Fix & Clean-Sunday
There was a good bit of activity going on at the shop, especially for so early in the day and also for a Sunday. And it was 100% intentional as Dwight tried to keep himself busy and distracted as much as possible.
It was a holiday weekend, and not just any holiday- it was the 4th of July. And his feelings about the holiday were .... complicated. It was a difficult balancing act every year. On one side there was the sense of pride and respect that came from years of military service...and one the other side was everything else that came with that. Add to that the entirely unique and personal layer of trauma his Trouble brought into the picture, and enjoying even something as simple as a firework show was essentially impossible for him.
And so, Dwight had spent that last few days trying to decide the best course of action for getting through the weekend, relatively in tact. Back in Haven he usually went on a camping trip over the weekend to get away from things. But Fandom was already fairly quiet and remote.... heading to the mainland would mot likely be putting himself closer to the very thing he was trying to get away from. So, Dwight was sticking it out, and hoping for a relatively easy holiday weekend.
The shop was going to be spick and span clean by the time the 5th rolled around, and who knew, he might actually get that side project finished up by then too! Dwight was hopeful at least as he fixed up the sign by the door:
