Shunsui had been...mildly concerned that few special orders he'd made for himself might not have actually come in on time (he had alternative options in the case that they hadn't, but they were not nearly as preferable), so when he came into the shop that morning afternoon, he was pleased as punch to see that they had arrived and were sitting there waiting for him by the register just in the nick of time.

Now it was just a matter of time to see how long it took Shunsui to realize that he really did not like wrapping presents very much, especially when those presents were some old and somewhat delicate books (including an absolutely incredible find of an 1861 account of the History of the United States, by way of Japan), and then just tried to convince Apu to do it for him, all the while critiquing the methods employed and insisting it needed more ribbons and maybe a nice little sprig of cherry blossoms, or something.

Eventually, somehow, the gift would end up looking surprisingly lovely and presentable enough to be left somewhat-but-not-really secretively for a certain bespectacled, bibliophile lieutenant to find in the morning on her birthday tomorrow.
