There were definitely some days when Apu was clearly feeling uninspired in his pursuit of celebrating the most frivolous of holidays, and then there were days like this one, where he couldn't seem to decide on which ones to celebrate the most, and so he just took on two of them.

One clearly had demanded much more of his time, as the store have been decorated with a bit of a space motif when Shunsui swept in that day. Mobiles of planets and stars and rocket ships dripped from the ceiling, and displays featuring freeze-dried ice cream and Tang. The panda also got into it with Moon Cheese.

And all this just left Shunsui pondering far too deeply if he could actually pull off a nap on the moon one of these days....

The other thing was much less involved, but there was a large bowl filled with fortune cookies on the counter by the register that day, with a little sign that said "Happy Fortune Cookie Day! Choose your destiny!"

And, of course, how could Shunsui refuse? So he reached in to grab one and cracked it open, and read: "A very attractive person has a message for you."

Which, of course, he found absolutely delightful (and unsurprising) at first, until he started to wonder if that just meant he'd be receiving a summons from Nanao-chan later.

He decided he'd compromise with fate and accept something non-summon-y from Jūshirō as a compromise.

Octavia had a whole trip ahead of her later, but she showed up relatively early in the afternoon. And was immediately glad she had, because... Planets. Space.

Sorry about how she just came to a halt at a random spot to look around.

Well, if Octavia was to be forgiven for just coming to a random halt to admire the decorations, then hopefully Shunsui could be forgiven for just taking a moment to just tilt his head and admire her admiring them.

But he did eventually venture forth with a grin and a gentle, "Enjoying today's theme, are we, Octavia-chan ♥?"

"This," Octavia replied, still reluctant to look away from the decorations, "technically this is where I'm from."

Not the rocket ships, at least not how they were portrayed here, but...

"So ka ♥?" Shunsui asked, gaining quite a bit of an obvious grin as he very languidly took his time in fetching his cups and setting to pouring his sake into them, as if to allow her to take as much time observing as needed.

He thought to add something more, but, tilting his head at the same angle as his jug, decided against it, giving her instead the....space (ha) to elaborate if she felt so inclined.

"Did I ever tell you that?" Octavia asked, finally managing a little glance his way. "Where I came from?"

Shunsui nodded, just a little, as he topped off the second cup and righted the jug. "I believe you may have," he said unless the mun is gravely misremembering, "but it has been an awfully long time since the matter has come up..."

And, jug safely set aside within reach, he smoothly swept up the cups, and decided to be so bold as to pull her attention away even further by offering them out toward her.

Octavia even noticed it after about... half a moment, and finally made it closer to the counter to pick one up. The lack of finesse in the action was pretty evidently linked to her distraction.

"Well, I was born on a space station," she said. "Though I only got to see what the outside looked like just the once."

Shunsui would have held it there even if it took her half the day to have noticed it.

Would have been a good excuse for not having to do anything else in all that time, really, but he was rather glad it hadn't taken so long. His arm would have gotten terribly exhausted in the process.

"And how did it look?" he asked. "On the outside, just the once ♥?"

"Black velvet, with silver flecks, like glitter."

Nothing like the mobiles, but she found herself looking up towards them again anyway.

"I saw this planet from above a year before I had ever been down here."

"A bit sparse, for a haiku," Shunsui noted, very clearly taking a moment to repeat that, black velvet, with silver flecks, like glitter soundlessly while marking the beats, "but I do rather enjoy that, Octavia-chan. There's quite the poet inside you after all ♥."

He lifted his cup to toast to that before having a sip.

"Do you miss it?" he asked. "Up there? Looking at this planet from afar?"

Octavia about half remembered what a haiku was. She wasn't going to ask, half lost in a memory as she was.

"It was too short a time for... missing."

"I'm not sure," said Shunsui, "there truly is such a thing. Even the most fleeting of moments can be sorely missed...sometimes simply because they are so fleeting. But I have always found time to be a bit...funny like that ♥."

Octavia lifted one shoulder as she finally brought her cup up. "Well, maybe it wasn't too short," she said. "Maybe it was just in the middle of other things not worth missing."

Eclipsed by them, in a way.

She downed the sake in one go.

"All the more shame, then," Shunsui's tone lightly attempted to echo that shrug, "for it to have gone missing in the shuffle. But maybr ypu'll have another chance to enjoy it a bit more properly...and in ways far more accurate than the the machinations of a bored man grasping for meaning in Space Exploration Day."

He finished his cup as well, reaching for the jug.

"Still," he mused, as he tilted it Octavia's way first, "I'm glad it happened on a Wednesday, at least, so that you could still enjoy it while it's here ♥."

Octavia considered it for a beat, then held out her cup.

"I almost didn't come by," she admitted. "We're heading out to... one of the countries in Europe, later." She wanted to remember which one, but the name wasn't coming to her. "Lucifer's taking us to see an opera."

"Well," said Shunsui, carefully leaning in to refill Octavia's cup before tending to doing the same with his own, "I hope you're feeling glad you did decide to stop in after all; I know I certainly am ♥. And an opera, neh? Sounds lovely ♥. Are you much of a fan, Octavia-chan ♥?"

"Never been," Octavia replied. "I barely know what it is." And that was mostly from her days as a record store clerk, a long time ago. "But this is for Lucifer."

Which made it special.

"Mmmm." Shunsui hummed a little thoughtfully into his cup. "I'm sure you'll all have a grand time of it, then ♥. You'll have to let me know what you think, although....to be fair..." Here, he offered an unsurprisingly crooked grin, "I've really been one for theatrics ♥."

With a wink thrown in, to emphasize the point.
