Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

Today found Steven behind the welcome counter reading the book Llewellyn had given him. Perhaps not strictly work related, but it was a way to pass the time while waiting to see if there were any visitors.

In a terribly shocking turn of events, Watts appeared around lunchtime, with a takeout bag in hand. He was already smiling as he entered the museum, but it got just a bit wider as he spotted what Steven was reading.

"Hello, you," he greeted.

Steven immediately put the book and his glasses to the side since there were more important things to be looking at. Also smiling at. "Hello, you. Here to tell me you're still feeling foolish?"

“No chance of that changing any time soon,” Watts told him with a grin. “I’ve also brought lunch,” he held up the takeout bag.

"Who's thoughtful then? You." Normally Steven would kiss Llewellyn after saying something like that. However, Steven remembered Llewellyn considered this area of the museum too public to be comfortable with such things. So Steven kept to simply smiling. "Where would you like to eat? Same as last time? Somewhere else?"

Watts considered the question. “I liked the spot you chose last time,” he said. “But you know the museum better than I. If there’s another place you think might be nice for taking a break, I’m all for it.”

"Lets do there then," Steven said. He would've reached for Llewellyn's hand but again he remembered that had been too much last time. "Looks nice but still fairly private."

Compared to the office which was entirely private but looked like an office, and the art collection which was lovely but didn't have background noise to cover conversations.

What, eating with the bugs wasn’t an option?

“All right.” And taking Steven’s hand might have been too much last time, but the fact that they’d been on a couple public dates since then, combined with his frustration with himself over how he’d reacted yesterday morning, meant Watts was feeling particularly determined, so he reached out for Steven’s hand as they made their way towards the aquatic exhibits.

Sure, if one felt like risking having bugs land on the food.

Steven's smile grew wider as Llewellyn reached for his hand. He gave a squeeze to show his appreciation for Llewellyn's bravery. "So how are you then? Day treating you well?"

“No complaints,” Watts confirmed. “Though my morning wasn’t as pleasant as yesterday’s by far.”

"Oh no, what happened?" Steven asked, concern for Llewellyn outpacing his ability to realize why Llewellyn would say so.

… Was this what it was like, Watts found himself wondering, when others made jokes that he took at face value?

“Nothing bad at all, you needn’t worry. It’s just that yesterday, I woke up with you.” Watts reminded him.

"Oh." Well now Steven felt silly. Also there was a noticeable blush. "Right. Yes. That was rather nice, wasn't it?"

And what else was there to do, then, but spare a furtive glance around them to confirm they were alone before leaning in to quickly kiss Steven’s cheek?

“And I look forward to having it happen again.”

Steven gave Llewellyn's hand another squeeze, again trying to respect Llewellyn's desire for privacy. "Me as well. Have to be careful. Could get very spoiled, having mornings like yesterday."

Somewhere, Ulysses was probably dying to point out that Watts hadn’t been nearly this cautious on their movie date a few weeks ago.

But then, a little backsliding was to be expected now and then.

“I don’t know,” Watts said, pretending to think about it. “I happen to think you deserve a little spoiling in that manner. So long as I’m the one responsible for it, anyway.”

"Oh no, very firm arrangement there," Steven said. He indicated the room they'd stopped in. "You stood there and said you wanted me to be yours and you to be mine. I remember that."

It was one of Steven's fondest memories. And one he was glad he could remember.

“As do I,” Watts smiled at Steven.

"Exclusive as well," Steven said. "It was a good agreement, that. Seeing no need to change it."

At the very least Steven certainly didn't want to.

And now that they were indeed properly alone, Watts’s reply was a kiss with a certain air of possessiveness about it. He had no interest in changing their arrangement either. Well, besides the fact that spending the night on occasion was now on the metaphorical table.

Steven was all right with both the kiss and the possessiveness. He made a soft sound of pleasure as he kissed Llewellyn back. If he held on tightly to Llewellyn's coat with one hand while he did it - well there'd been no agreement about only one of them being allowed to be possessive.

The mutual sense of possessiveness kept things nice and symmetrical, and Steven of all people knew how much Llewellyn Watts appreciated symmetry.

Steven pulled back enough to smile up at Llewellyn. "Well my day's gotten much better, don't know about yours."

“Trending upwards,” Watts agreed. “Also, Portuguese,” he added, holding up the takeout bag.

"And you didn't even have to sail to get it," Steven said. He frowned. "At least I'm assuming."

It was Fandom. Steven couldn't rule it out.

“No, I did not,” Watts confirmed. “Though in doing my research regarding what to order I did find that truly vegan options were somewhat limited,” he said, with an apologetic look.
