Luke's Diner, Saturday

[what_the_shock]

Miguel hated these reunion weekends. It just reminded him how old everybody else had gotten, while he'd stayed pretty much the same. So he was fine to put in his usual shift at Luke's and pretend like none of it was happening.

He had coffee, he had a kitchen, he was all good.

"This place hasn't changed at all... including the moody guy behind the counter" Dwight said as he walked in, his pace slowing a bit as he saw Miguel and realized no, he really did look like he hadn't aged a day. "That is you right, Miguel?"

"No, it's my evil twin," Miguel said, deadpan. He looked Dwight over and grimaced. "Hey, Dwight."

[alwaysonguard]

"Yup. It's you alright," Dwight said with a slight smirk and shake of the head. "So... island shenanigans again? Or is that healing ability of yours kicking in so much now it's got you not ageing at all?" Dwight asked as he walked over and sat down. Cuz ya never knew... either one was pretty likely, specially around here.

"That'd be the latter." Miguel poured him a coffee and slid it over. "What have you been up to lately?"

[alwaysonguard]

"See things haven't changed in all this time," Dwight said with a dry laugh. "Good to see ya around still, Miguel." Ya know, as opposed to the other likelihood of that other reality life finally catching up...not that Dwight was going to say anything of the sort out loud.

"Things have bene ok. Been busy in Haven with The Guard. Working with the new sheriff, getting the town in a better place, trying to make things better for those of us who still need a safe place to go." Here he gave a small nod as he lifted the mug in a quick toast that felt both familiar and nostalgic at the same time.

"You been doing alright? Keeping out of trouble for the most part?"

Miguel shrugged. "Same old, same old. You want food?"

"Any chance you got the stuff back there to make some of those fried empanadas, for old time's sake?" Dwight asked, with as close to a nostalgic smirk as he would let himself get.

[what_the_shock]

"I could probably manage." Miguel tapped the counter. "Back in a bit." He headed back to the refrigerator where there was dough already made, and brought it out along with some meat and potatoes.

"Thanks man," Dwight said with a nod as Miguel headed off. "Gotta say, it's near impossible to get good empanadas in Haven!"

"So visit sometimes," Miguel said. "Nobody said you have to stay away."

[alwaysonguard]

"Got me there" Dwight said. "I honestly had tried a few times after I first left. But never could seem to get a portal through. Thing it was all that silly Haven nonsense interfering again...." He gave a sigh and an apologetic shrug. " Guess after a while got too busy and hadn't tried till recently."

He gave slight chuckle as he looked at Miguel. "Guess maybe now the portals are working again and I can get back easier."

[what_the_shock]

"Don't feel you need to on my account," Miguel drawled, finishing up a few empanadas. "I'm fine here on my own."

[alwaysonguard]

"Well considering you are the only soul in this god forsaken town I would bother to come visit," Dwight replied dryly himself. "Might be easier just to move the two of ya to Haven and make everyone's life easier" he added with a laugh, not that he ever expected to see Miguel darken the borders of Haven of his own free will.

[what_the_shock]

"In your dreams," Miguel said. "If I ever go to Haven, I'll be wrapping half the populace in spiderweb."

[alwaysonguard]

"Fair," Dwight said with a nod. "Though things have gotten a bit better... comparatively at least." Low bar there but he was a bit proud of what he had managed to help accomplish in the last 10 years.
