Vi had been far too caught up in her own head, and then falling back into bad over-training habits to try and get out of it again, to even notice anything unusual had gone on over the weekend.

Even now, she was too distracted to really pay attention to her work, or more importantly (at least as far as Saffron was involved) to making up for not visiting Saffron between game night and now. This was a mistake, she shouldn't even have come in this morning.

Was Steph around? Nominally. But she spent most of the day holed up in the office with the door closed so Vi could avoid her more easily, or kept finding excuses to step out for a few. (Not that she went for coffee, because whenever she usually went for coffee she always came back with a drink for Vi, and rather than obviously not bring one today -- or actually try to bring one and get it rejected -- she just opted to go without. Because that was smart.)

It probably didn't help that her workshop had left her annoyed on top of hurt and painfully aware of missing Vi's company, either.

Which meant Vi spent most of the day staring wistfully at the office door, trying to work up the courage to go over and say something, even if it was just to quit and save Steph the trouble of firing her, only to drop her gaze to the counter whenever it actually opened, guilt and worry gnawing at her. How was she supposed to make sure she was taking care of herself (she hadn't even gotten herself coffee) when she clearly wasn't welcome.

Worst of all, this also meant she was completely ignoring Saffron when she flopped dramatically in front of her, right in prime petting range.

Wouldn't someone think of Saffron, so mistreated by her idiot humans?
