Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [08/03].
Anytime Apu-san was in a particularly good mood at the store was grounds for some light suspicion from Shunsui, and he almost didn't ask, but, as the man went about his usual sweeping through the aisle (in the literal sense, and not the theatric, over-the-top sense in which Shunsui did it) humming along, curiosity, for once, did get the better of him, which is how he found out that it was Clean Your Floors Day.
And then there was a pause.
"Isn't...every day pretty much clean your floors day for you, Apu-san?"
Which was not a judgement, of course! Especially since that meant Shunsui never had to do it himself, but, well, good for him. As long as it made him happy.
He'd definitely get to do plenty of it, too, because Shunsui had brought Issa-chan with him again and she was shedding like mad.

Anyway, here she was. And with a fond look toward Issa, as well. "Oh, she's back."
no subject
And Issa, for her part, seemed to have been mildly interested in Octavia's entrance, although possibly not interested enough to give up her comfortable spot in a sunbeam. She was thinking about it, though.
no subject
It seemed unlikely, but the question came to her, and so she asked it.
no subject
"If anyone here is a thief," he added, because how could he not, sending that lopsided grin of fondness over to the pool of feline fluff in the sunspot, "surely it is Issa-chan herself, for having so effectively stolen my heart ♥."
no subject
"Well, at least some stealing is going on, so I was half right."

He set down the jug, swept up the cups in his hand and shifted them to settle comfortably in his palm, before offering them out, surprising no one one.
"Sake," he quirked both a brow and a grin, feeling rather pleased that it seemed those words had been leaving his mouth much more lately than they sometimes had, "Octavia-chan ♥?"
no subject
Despite the raspy drawl, her touch was as careful and deliberate as ever as she picked up the cup.
no subject
He threw in a wink for good measure, before lifting his cup for that first sip, which was followed by a...perhaps slightly speculative look, behind all the amusement.
"Good day so far," he asked, "Octavia-chan?"
no subject
After the weekend.

no subject
But she gave a little shrug, too.
"I don't know, I'm... working through it."
no subject
The fact that she'd even mention it made him feel like she would, at the very least, be amenable to the idea, but he would always feel as though that amenability was quite the frail and delicate thing.
no subject
Who, by the way, was doing a stellar job rolling with everything Fandom added into the mix.
"It just seems like something... that's really hard to find words for, you know?"
no subject
Although he rather wished his own feelings about the last weekend were as easily dismissed as absurd as he was pretending they could be.
"But I can say I am more than willing to lend an extra ear should you wish to continue to explore the possibilities. Better yet," a lift of the cup, and another wink with his refreshed grin, "I don't charge ♥.
"Or we can chat about things entirely unrelated. As always....lady's choice ♥."
no subject
Because that was clearly the thing to take away from this, yes.
But Octavia's expression was turning a little more pensive, and a little softer again, as a result.
no subject
So he just took his time, sipping his sake, and watching her with idle curiousness. After all, he was hardly one to want to rush through a conversation.
no subject
"Even Lucifer was older," was what she landed on, softly, finally, as she set the cup down on the counter again. "I mean, even he looked older."
no subject
"Which I assume," he mused as he poured, "is quite the notable change for a man of his..." He seemed to falter a little with what he felt was the right word. "...type. One would hardly expect a Soul like myself to age much in a mere twenty years, so I'd think the same would be said for him, neh?"
no subject
"I've met him before when he was... well, I guess he was supposed to be the celestial equivalent of a teenager?" she said. "He looked exactly the same then as he does now. He just let his hair be more curly then."
no subject
no subject
Her voice was a little smaller than she would have liked it to be. "I don't know."
no subject
"Well," he suggested, almost like an escape route, "I do know that some find maintaining the same look for millennia can get a bit...tedious, maybe a more....experienced, distinguished," here, there was a smirk and a duck of his head for the acknowledgement that himself didn't exactly come off as a spring chicken, but, then again, Souls did age, just at a remarkably slow rate, "look was just the thing ♥."
no subject
But could he make himself mortal? She didn't know.
no subject
"Isn't that just....natural, though?" Shunsui mused, lifting an eyebrow lightly. "When some people spend a good deal of time with each other, they tend to...pick up on certain features and traits. Why not little nuances of appearance, like aging and the like? Especially if its done with out realizing it, a part of him just merely wanted to match your pace....Certainly seems to make sense to me, Octavia-chan...."

no subject
But she did say that she thought that was what Lucifer thought it was, which certainly did make a person wonder...
"And I," here, he had to chuckle, just a little, "didn't say that you didn't."
no subject
Shrugged a little.
"It was just a weird, good thing. All of it."
no subject
no subject
That would've been far too simple, being able to pinpoint anything and say it was an issue, rather than just one more piece of a mess of feelings.
"Maybe I should just save this for Dr. Baker."
no subject
"Felt implied," he said, softly, pausing for another sip before adding, "And I guess that's why I am not a professional ♥."
