As class was getting ready to start, Dwight was standing at the front of the class. He cleared his throat when it was time and turned to look at those who had shown up.

"Looks like a small and fairly familiar looking group," he said with a grin. "Welcome to Practical Woodworking 101. My name is Dwight Hendrickson for those of you who might not know me."

Here he gave a quick head count to see what the numbers had actually ended up being.

"We will start off nice and easy with the traditional first class activity- introductions! I know you all are absolutely dying to get to it," he added with a smirk and a laugh. "I think we all mostly know each other but it's still a good place to start ~~in case anyone stopped by who hasn't signed up~~.

"As I said, my name is Dwight Hendrickson. I've been doing woodworking, carpentry, and handyman work for many years now. I also run the Fix and Clean shop and do a lot of handyman stuff around town. This includes a lot of wood work and such so that is what this class is going to focus on, and hopefully you all enjoy the class and find it something you can use too."

With that he turned to the person closest and gave a nod. "So we will start here. Please give us your name, a little bit about yourself, and why you are taking the class or what you hope to get out of it."

Tells us who you are, a little about yourself, and what you want to get out the class or why you signed up.

Well. This, at least, was easy and not awkward enough!

"Amaya Blackstone," she offered, with the expected staunch nod and a pound of her fist into her hand. "Local blacksmith."

Never hurt to just throw that out there, even if everyone in the class definitely already knew that.

And then? A faint smirk.

"I'm mostly here to up my skills so I can finally work toward putting the local competition out of business."

You had best be joking there Amaya.... after all the business he had brought your way since coming to the island.

"Well, I am sure you will pick up a thing or two at least," he said with a small smirk of his own.

Hey, now, some of that traffic went both ways, you know! Of course she was joking. A little healthy competition was good for the soul.

"I'd hope so," Amaya said, "otherwise, what's the point? I figured at the very least there could be a marked improvement on my hilt-work by the time we're done here."

"Emily Goldfinch," Rosa offered with a nod. "I just really like to handle wood."

Look, if Blackstone was going to insist on dragging her to this workshop for whatever reason, she was at least going to make it somewhat bearable by just trolling Hendrickson the whole time.

"Good to see you too.. Rosa" he said with a steady gaze. "Glad you came."

Look, if she was going to show up just to troll him he was going to troll her right back. The best he could anyways.

"I don't know who that is," Rosa said, with a small shake of her head, mostly straight-faced and deadpan if not for the slightly confused furrow in her brow. "My name's Emily."

Hey, just be glad she went with that route; her other response was just snorting out ha, came like a twelve-year-old.

"I'm Alara Kitan," Alara said when it was her turn, "I've never done any wood working before, even though I've done a couple of engineering classes," she paused, "I'm from a planet called Xelaya, it has higher gravity and I ... well I tend to break things easily," she admitted.

"Glad you decided to give this a try, Alara" Dwight said with a sincere smile. "And that strength of yours might actually serve ,you well here in the class!"
