Community Center Class: Chopped: Fandom. Tuesday Evening, 9/13

The baskets awaiting the class that week with their mystery ingredients inside were perhaps leading to a very obvious hint as to what was in store for everyone this time around, with a very distinct color blocking of green, white, and red that might call up thoughts of a certain national flag or inspire a particular meme-related earworm.

(No, the music was not actually playing, but you'd better believe that Summer had thought about it).

"Welcome back," Stark said. "Hopefully this week's inspiration is a little less horrifying than last week's." There was always hope. "And hopefully there are no cupcakes with fish in them." Goose. “Please don’t do that.”

That was not an invitation to serve jello with fish in it tomorrow either, Summer. Wasn’t the pleading look Stark was giving everyone convincing enough?

“There aren’t any fish in our inspiration, at least,” he continued, narrowing his eye at the cloche covering today’s inspiring cupcake. “Or there weren’t earlier.” Stark didn’t exactly trust foods in cooking classes here to stay the way they were meant to after this summer’s cupcake workshops and he was noticeably relieved when removing the lid revealed the tomato cupcake with basil frosting he was expecting. As relieved as he could be when faced with a savory sort of cupcake, anyway.

"No fish," Summer agreed, looking far too proud of herself with the reveal, "and not just a cupcake this week, either, you guys."

Which was when the pizza beer showed up. Stark just sighed at it. Heavily.

"So," she said, "with our tomato-basil cupcake and our pizza beer to inspire us, the real challenge is going to be your creativity and your ability to avoid into the obvious traps that these ingredients will lead you to. Try to think of something different, and absolutely no pizzas. Too easy. You have handwavey minutes; your time begins…now!"

No pizza?

Pizza was hardly the only thing Raiden could make, but he had to take a moment to get over being denied even the option of his favorite food before he could start cooking.

At least he had pizza beer.

Goose looked way to happy about that pizza beer.

He considered the ingredients for a while and then decided to try his hand at making a casserole.

Cutter stared at the pizza beer, decided that he didn't want to know and tried to think of something he could make from this week's ingredients that wasn't a pizza.

He really didn't know what he was doing, there was reason that he didn't do much cooking at home.

Liz had felt bad about missing last week’s class, even if she wouldn’t have had the focus for it and so she made sure to come to this week’s class, she wasn’t overly confident in her cooking abilities and it took her a while to decide what kind of recipe she wanted to try with the ingredients.

In the end she decided to keep it simple and try making a salad, at least that should be something that she could make.

She was definitely not touching that pizza beer, even if she wasn’t pregnant she wouldn’t be going near it.

At least this week Goose had tried something different?

He was also rather pleased about the casserole that he managed to make and not burn down the community centre in the process.

It probably wasn’t the best tasting casserole but it at least looked decent?

Cutter wasn't entirely sure what he had tried to make, he had kind of mixed everything together and somehow...he had ended up making some kind of soup.

It probably couldn't even be called a soup or food of any description, it looked terrible.

Liz had ended up keeping it fairly simple and went with a salad as her recipe with the different ingredients.

It wasn't anything overly impressive but Liz had thought a salad was one of the few things she could make without messing it up too badly.

Guillermo decided to go with what he really enjoyed making and ended up using the ingredients to make empanadas.

There were a lot of empanadas as well, he couldn't help but wonder if Graham would like these with all the different ingredients that ended up being used.

Summer was literally heading straight into a sangria night after this, so even she had the foresight to know that pregaming with pizza beer was a terrible, terrible idea.

There were definitely going to be actual pizzas ordered later, though, she could already tell.
