All of the bowling balls had turned into pumpkins somehow. Eddie wasn't about to question it, however he was questioning the people who were still trying to bowl despite this setback. It was making a mess and you weren't even going to get a good score.

Ulysses had had a couple of weeks he didn't really want to talk about. He was fine, really, honest, and had been doing extremely healthy things as a result! Really!

Anyway.

He was here now, and raising his sunglasses up to his forehead as if he needed to check whether he was actually seeing as many pumpkins as he thought he was seeing.

"Riiight."

"It's going to reek in here so bad," Eddie said. "Just, nasty pumpkin smell everywhere."

"I... did not even think of that." No one was surprised, Uly. "I haven't, like, done that much with pumpkins in like a really long time."

"Oh yeah?" Eddie asked, eyebrows lifting. "What have you been doing with pumpkins in the past?"

There was something of a long pause, as Ulysses felt he should try and come up with some lie that was more interesting than what he was about to say.

But, no.

"Just... carving them?"

"Oh thank god. You don't want to know what I was imagining." He was a storyteller, okay? His mind just automatically went to weird and perhaps physically impossible places.

Ulysses considered that for a second, then dramatically held up a single finger, like he was making a very emphatic point.

"No," he said. "Whatever that is, no."

Eddie laughed, because that was extremely fair. "Been busy lately? Haven't seen you around."

He had been looking for him, yes.

Ulysses was not as subtle as he would have liked to be about perking up a little, hearing that.

Her finally pushed the sunglasses all the way atop his head, and resisted the urge to shove his hand through his hair. "Yeah, I've been just --" Having a prolonged meltdown about more than one thing in his life. "-- just busy, yeah, I guess. It's just been that kind of a month, you know?"

Lame.

"This has actually been one of the most boring months of my life," Eddie joked. "And I'm from Indiana, so I know boring."

"But you got all these pumpkins now," Ulysses said, trying for a joke, "so that's gotta be something, right?"

"It was a surprise, to be sure," Eddie allowed. "Even more surprising was people actually trying to bowl with them."

Most of them ended up in the gutter, if they didn't explode immediately hitting the lane.

Those balls haven't turned into tiny gourds at least.
