There were more pumpkins. How were there more pumpkins? Wanda could barely get through the door, and when she did get through the door she managed to trip over another one.

Wanda, who had been particularly short tempered lately, had enough of it. She raised her hands, lifting the pumpkins in the air, and with a crushing motion of her hands, caused them to explode. Pumpkin guts and the shells of gourds flew everywhere, covering the surface of anything in its vicinity (which was most of the store).

Ugh, she'd clean it up later. She had work to do.

It was a bit later when Annie ducked her head in, holding an impulse-bought little bag from the Perk and looking a little concerned as she gave the shop a slow look from top to bottom.

"Did I miss, like, the Great Pumpkin Massacre of 2022?" Holy shit, so many seeds.

"They were in my way." Normal reaction to some gourds being in your walking space.

Super normal. The tiara and all on a random Tuesday was also really normal, while we were discussing normal things.

"If there's randomly appearing pumpkins, now, I guess I'm glad I found out before Tiny makes a house out of them on Thursday," Annie decided carefully, avoiding pumpkin gunk as best as she could as she wound her way inside. "Want a muffin? They gave me two."

That was a lie, and not an especially well-told one, either, but -- coffee seemed like a bad offering for someone who didn't seem like she was getting enough sleep, so baked goods with an excuse that allowed both of them to pretend Annie wasn't a little worried would have to do.

"Oh." Remember muffins, Wanda? Remember people doing nice things for other people? "Uh, sure. Thanks."

"Do you need help--" Wanda waved her fingers to indicate she could get Annie over to the register without getting pumpkin on her shoes.

"Probably better than me zapping it off later," Annie noted with a smile. Especially because burnt pumpkin? Ew. (And also it was kind of nice to see that Wanda did not, like...see nothing amiss here. That was good!) "You want chocolate chip or cinnamon with stuff all over it?"

Streusel, if you wanted to be technical.

"Dealer's choice," Wanda said with a wry smile. She lifted up her hand, which would be the only warning Annie was going to get before Wanda lifted her off her feet to bring her closet.

You know who had never been flown like that? Right here. And while flying under her own power was awesome, and being flown by Homelander had been the worst, this was kind of fun in a whole different way and Annie couldn't help but giggle even as she held still to make it easier for Wanda.

"Then you get the chocolate chip," she decided, mostly because she herself believed very strongly in the healing and endorphin-granting properties of chocolate. "God, that's cool. What's with the getup? Superhero stuff later?"

Not that Annie, like, would have any feelings about that if she did. None at all. She didn't miss it or anything, don't worry.

"Honestly? I forgot to change," Wanda admitted as she gently sat Annie down. "I'm kind of more comfortable like this? Which is weird, I know."

Considering the whole tiara thing.

"I mean, it does look...comfy," Annie offered a touch hesitantly as she got out the muffins and offered Wanda hers. The tiara didn't, especially, but Annie's experience wearing tiaras for longer than a photo op after a pageant win was pretty limited. Maeve had always hung out in hers unless she had to go somewhere, so maybe they were deceptively easy to forget about. "I was always in a hurry to get out of my Starlight clothes, but I also couldn't breathe in them."

Which did not appear to be an issue for Wanda and her enviable pants and high neckline and such.

"I used to have that problem with the corset." Though her bigger worry was usually more along the lines of one of her boobs popping out than breathing thing.

Wanda gave Annie a grateful smile as she accepted the muffin. Usually her food intake these days was usually a frozen something or other. "Thank you. How have you been? Getting nervous about the wedding?"

That had always been a worry with the bodysuit, too! Annie had mostly solved that by moving about as much as a kind of shitty animatronic from a bygone World's Fair while wearing it.

"You know, I'm weirdly not nervous at all?" Annie noted, tilting her head in thought. "About the wedding, anyway. I'm more nervous about, like, my mom meeting all of Diego's siblings and maybe telling me to put Vaseline on my teeth for the ceremony."

She would be declining that advice, never fear.

"...why would you put Vaseline on your teeth?" Wanda asked.

"Old pageant trick to keep you smiling," Annie replied, grinning a little too big and gesturing to her teeth. "I don't think I'll have that problem, but she's pretty...stage-momish, anyway."

Like, Annie was going to have to get all her muffin-eating out of the way before Donna laid eyes on her next month. Or else get better at ignoring criticism.

Steve, trotting home in his Captain America uniform, stopped to poke his head in and say hello to Wanda.

"Hello?"

Wanda had been thinking about cleaning up her mess by the time Steve popped his head in, but hadn't actually gotten around to it. It was...starting to smell not great in here.

"Hello."

"Did I miss a pumpkin monster invasion?" he asked.

[scarlet_chaos]

"No, just a regular pumpkin invasion," Wanda said. "I...got carried away getting rid of them, it seemed."

"Maybe a little," Steve agreed, glancing around with a tiny smile on his face. "Smells like Fall, though."

Kind of that gross Fall of the pumpkin patch where the hayride kept running over the rotted pumpkins, but Steve wasn't going to mention that.

"I like the little ear things," he said, pointing to her head.

"Oh. Yeah. Sort of went out suited up today," she said, reaching a hand up to touch her tiara. "I kind of like wearing it more than regular clothes."

Or she liked being the Scarlet Witch more than Wanda Maximoff at the moment, rather.

"It looks more comfortable than what you currently wear going out," Steve offered.

[scarlet_chaos]

"You mean the uh corset with the--" Wanda gestured vaguely at her chest area. "Yeah. Wasn't very practical."

And Steve hadn't even seen her run through an airport in it!

"I'm not one to comment on costuming," he said with a little grin, "but you seem more comfortable in this one."

Too comfortable, even? Maybe?

"I am," Wanda admitted. "You've gone through some costume changes too. Seems to be a superhero rite of passage."

Steve gestured down at his current iteration and grinned. "It's a little less...primary colored...than the first one. And no tights."

"Can we just ban tights all around?" Wanda asked. "Like, can we have a meeting and vote on it?"
