Pizza Planet, Friday

Raiden was hoping to get away from the restaurant for a bit to go find his brothers at the picnic (and eat picnic food), but he wanted to make sure everything was running smoothly first, because some of the visitors might want pizza. Comfort food was important after a shock to the system like some of them were going to get, after all.

"Told you I'd be back," Jaina said, with a serious-looking husband and two very similar-looking five-year-old boys in tow.

"Welcome back!" Raiden greeted them. "Is this your family?"

"We are. Jagged Fel," Jag said, offering his hand for a shake because he was physically incapable of casual greetings.

Raiden gave him an enthusiastic handshake. Very enthusiastic. Very strong. "Nice to meet you," he told him. "I'm Raiden. Jaina tells me you've never had pizza before. I'm so sorry."

"I've survived this long," Jag pointed out, wrongly okay with that.

"Yeah, but you shouldn't have to," Raiden told him earnestly. "Luckily, you won't much longer. What kind of pizza would you like? You can't go wrong."

You could go wrong. You could go very, very wrong, but not with any of the current options.

"Am I able to say surprise him?" Jaina asked, because she was that kind of wife. "Also a small sausage one for the kids that you can't surprise or it goes horribly?"

"Definitely don't want to upset the kids," Raiden agreed. "One small sausage and one surprise me coming right up. Oooh. So many choices..." This was going to be hard.

"Why do I feel like I should be concerned?" Jag checked.

"Jagged," Raiden said solemnly, "I will not do you wrong. I would never ruin someone's first pizza experience." This was important. You didn't serve scrapple to a pizza virgin!

"All right," Jag said, nodding. "I believe I can trust your judgement then. On pizza."

He'd been to Fandom once before and had a lot of conversations like this then too.

His judgment on pizza was impeccable. Even if he did occasionally commit pizza crimes, they would be delicious if people gave them a shot.

...pay no attention to the scrapple behind the curtain.

Raiden cracked his knuckles like he was getting ready to get to work, then asked, "Now. Any allergies or food aversions I should know about?"

"No sardines," said Dax.

"No Legos," added Daniel, giggling.

Jaina looked down at them, wondering where they learned the word 'sardines.' "None of those," she said.

"No speeders!" Dax laughed.

"Yeah, please don't put any flying cars on the pizza," Jaina sighed. "Weirdos."

Kids were so great. "I will do my best not to put any speeders on your dad's pizza," Raiden promised them.

A few minutes later he emerged from the kitchen with three pizzas, because the guy just couldn't help himself. "One small sausage for the small fries," he declared, "and a supreme and a margherita for the guy who's never had pizza before, so you can sort of get both ends of the 'standard pizzas' spectrum. We'll save the figs for the advanced class."

Steve sauntered in with a young teenaged girl who was warring between being 150 Percent Over Everything and Oooh, Free Pizza.

"Aloha, Raiden," Steve said with a grin. "I'm here for my weekly order."

"Steve, hey!" Raiden said cheerily. "And Steve's friend! Welcome to Pizza Planet! What can I do ya for?"

"That's very kind of you," Jag said, figuring that this should actually tide the boys over all weekend when and if they refused to eat anything else. "You're incredibly good at customer service, Raiden."

Somewhere a tiny voice was saying, "I'm not a fry."

"You are not a fry," Raiden affirmed to the owner of said tiny voice. "It's a figure of speech where I'm from." To Jag, he said, "I figure customer service is just being nice to people, and I don't know why you wouldn't be nice to people if you can, so." He shrugged one huge shoulder. "That's all it is."

"This is Danny's daughter, Grace," Steve said. She gave a little wave. "She's been sent to curb my pizza ordering genius."

But he ordered such fun pizzas! Deferring to your stepkid was a smooth move, though, Steve. "Hi, Grace," Raiden said to her. "Nice to meet you. What kind of pizza would you like?"

"More people could use that attitude, honestly," Jag said.

"He's a politician," Jaina explained.

"That's why I say it."

"Well, you can't go wrong with the awesome kind of pepperoni, right Grace?" Steve said. Grace, who'd been trying to selfie in the shop and get Raiden in the shot but, like, subtly, jumped. "Sure!"

"And the fig and prosciutto, with extra arugula," Steve said. Because he like to make the vein in Danny's forehead pulse.

Raiden's height might make Grace's stealth selfie efforts more difficult, but she had in her favor his blissfully oblivious nature. "Sure thing," Raiden said as he rang it up. "Anything else?" Was two pizzas enough for three people? It didn't seem like it should be...

Steve thought about it. "Breadsticks?" he said. "Grace, will Charlie eat breadsticks?"

"Who doesn't it breadsticks?" she replied.

"Some people have that gluten thing," aka 'Raiden's worst nightmare.' "Okay, so that's...two large pizzas and an order of breadsticks..." Was that enough food? It sounded like there was a fourth person. Raiden didn't know how much kids ate, this was stressful. "It'll be just a few minutes on that." More time for Grace's selfie attempts.

"Take your time," Steve said easily. "Do you have anyone visiting?"

"Three of my brothers," Raiden confirmed. "Plus Gray, of course, he was here already. We're going to all meet up later." Assuming Gray ever woke up and Bellamy wasn't in someone's bed by then...

"That sounds fun," Steve said. "My sister came last year with a kid I didn't know she'd had."

Mary was...erratic.

"Yikes," Raiden said. "I don't have to worry about that with my brothers, at least." Bellamy and Alastair were the only two at any risk of impregnating anybody, and they seemed to have decided long ago to avoid that on account of the whole, you know, bloodline curse.

Also, Alastair was currently in a long term relationship with a man.

"But a new niece or nephew is a joy even if they are a surprise, right?" Always looking on the bright side, this guy.

"Yeah, she's really cute," Steve said with a grin, "and she's helped Mary be a little less...Mary about thing.s'
