The Magpie Emporium; Friday, 10/21.

Graham had been excited to see all the pumpkin work that Steph had been doing at the store, especially after getting to read about it on the radio, but when he finally came in, he found himself much more distracted by that sign declaring that Saffron was, in fact, cursed.

"....you know," Graham decided, as he looked down at Saffron, who was ignoring him as usual in favor of grooming and keeping herself clean and tidy, "that actually explains a lot."

So now, he felt, the real question was what kind of curse, because you couldn't even begin to start looking into what kind of spell you could use to break it if you didn't even know what kind it was, but he'd feel really bad, honestly, if he had the knowledge of a curse and didn't at least try to do something about it....

Never mind the allegedly cursed cat; she certainly won't mind you.

He's tempted to start sorting through some game manuals for spell inspiration, but he knows those aren't real spells, they're just make-believe ones, and he should really get himself an actual spellbook, one of these days...

Where hopefully you won't be cursed with a bad time if you pull up a table and get a game started!

The mystery of Saffron's curse might have to wait for another day, as it's time for the weekly DnD session to commence! And after a week hiatus due to France, they all probably have a lot of snacking to catch up on!

"Okay, everyone," Graham said, calling the table to order after they'd gotten their snacking and chatting out of their system, "let's get into it. When we left off....aaaages ago!...we were mostly just killing some time before meeting Lady Debora at the rendezvous spot to begin our journey to city of Mount Freeland far in the northwest of the continent as an escort for her brother Lord Donovan. I know Amenken found himself a nice new dagger from a charismatic adventurer with a penchant for sharp knives and tall tales, but was there anyone else who wanted to look for anything in particular before we head off on our voyage? Or are we ready to hit that dusty trail on the next step in our adventure?"

Libby was there, of course, and eager to get back into playing the game (another thing, she reminded herself, that she'd probably have to give up if she did follow through on that courtship).

She'd also clearly stepped up her heathy snacks game a little beyond the snackable veggies because she'd also brought along some hummus. It had been on sale, apparently, at the T&C, due to some kind of special chickpea holiday?

Guillermo had spent most of the day cooking in preparation for the session that night. He didn’t want to run the risk that they were going to run out of food and so in addition to his usual several containers of empanadas, he decided to make four pies that week. He was going to go with three but he thought three was too risky. So this week the pies he decided to make were cinnamon pumpkin pecan and chocolate meringue.

He had spent so long cooking that he was pushing to make it to the session on time and was rather breathless as he arrived, “Hi, am I late?” he asked as he arrived carrying all the containers of food that he had.

Jo was definitely excited to get back to the game and she had brought along her normal boxes of chocolates and sweets.

"Hello," she smiled when she arrived.

"Hey, Guillermo!" said Graham, almost with a sigh of relief, because he'd been worried there would be a distinct lack of both vampire and empanadas and pies at today's session, but clearly, his concerns were all for naught!

"Not at all! I was just going to get us started soon, though. How's your week been? Can I take some of those empanadas off your hands?"

And into his stomach?

"Hey, Jo!" Graham greeted her with a wave and a smile. "Welcome back to the table! And, zounds! You really weren't kidding about some of those French pastries last time, were you?"

Vi had a cheese platter. She hadn't even known cheese platters were a thing before about half an hour ago, but she was all for them.

Saffron apparently was too, since she was ignoring her curse in favour of begging cheese off Vi in addition to pets. "Hey."

"Ooooooh, a cheese platter!"

Graham was, clearly, very impressed and excited, assuming there'd even be any left if Saffron was successful in all that begging.

He then grinned and wave a hand. "Hey, Vi. How've you been? A little sad, not seeing you out on the school trip."

He hoped it wouldn't be a sore topic for her, but it was true, he did feel that way, and he wanted to let her know as much.

"I've been swell," Vi said, as she broke off what Saffron considered to be far too small a piece of cheese. "It was fine, I found plenty to occupy myself with."

Would anything short of the entire platter at once be considered far too small a piece?

"Well, that's good," Graham said with a nod and a smile, pleased to hear that she surely hadn't spent the whole time just pining after her missing classmates. Not that he imagined she would have been in the first place, of course, but you never knew!

"Anything particularly interesting?" he then prompted. "I didn't get to see any floating castles in France, but the food was just as good as what everyone said it would be, and Charlie made sure everyone at one of the castles we did visit know how awesome we were by charming the rocks to talk."

"You visited me, so I thought it only fair that I visit you," Charlie said cheerfully. "And I brought donuts. Because it's Friday and I thought we deserved a treat."

"Those," Graham stated, grin bright and eager upon Charlie's entrance even before the donuts were brought into the picture, so you can imagine how it grew once they were, "are all excellent points of logic, Charlie, and I agree wholeheartedly with every single one of them. Although..."

He gave a small, somewhat sheepish laugh. "Triumph should probably get donuts, too, since it was his idea earlier this week, so one of us will have to make sure at least one of them gets to him."

"There are definitely enough for Triumph to have one or two," Charlie agreeed, "I don't mind bringing them to him, but I'm not entirely sure where he is, so maybe you'd better."

She made room on the counter and hopped up before setting the box of donuts down. "I got a ~~moddable~~ variety for us."

I just want you to know I've been laughing myself to tears at this gif for ten solid minutes now.

"Oh, he's usually just chilling in the stables when he's not with me," Graham offered helpfully. "Unless he's been going on on grand adventures behind my back, but if that were the case, then he's been pretty good about bribing the squirrels not to tell anyone about it. I definitely don't mind bringing them to him, but he might be disappointed not to get to see you.

"And thanks," he said, beaming over at Charlie for a moment before his attention happily went to seeing what that box had to offer. "These are gonna be great!"

In fact, as if to prove it, he plucked one out and took a prompt bite, only chewing it a few times before he started to ask, "So what have--" Then cut himself off, remembering his manners, and covered his mouth with his hand as he finished chewing, and then swallowed, and then tried again.

"So what have you been up to today, Charlie?"

KQ is so rarely giffed that I cherish every single one, but any about Gywdion/Alexander vs Mannanan's cat are PARTICULARLY loved.

"Maybe we can go together then," Charlie said easily." She picked a raspberry filled donut and took a bite. "Oh, these are good!"

She smiled at Graham, swinging her feet. "Today, well, first I whacked myself in the forehead when I listened to radio and realized that yet again I'd neglected to do anything interesting for you to report. Then I had a leisurely stretch and a shower and then I went and picked up some donuts to share with you. High excitement, right?" she teased.

Graham's cheeks seemed to be attempting to do their very best to match the red of his cloak at the suggestion that they go together, and his smile went a little distant. "I might be able to squeeze in some time between my shift and when the game starts tonight," he said. "Or we could just bring them to him tomorrow. He won't mind if they're just a day old, I bet, although it will be difficult, to make sure not to eat them all before then...

"And that is pretty exciting," he allowed. "And that's okay, that you didn't do anything exciting yesterday for me to report on. That just means that when you do do something exciting on Thursdays for me to report on, that makes it extra exciting!"

"Sure, whatever works best for you," Charlie said. "I don't have any other plans today or tomorrow - though I might stop into that grand opening for the plant place. She's giving away free samples of stuff, I think."

She grinned at him. "I'll have to think up something good for next week."

And how could Graham do anything but grin back at that?

"I'm looking forward to reporting about it, then!" he said. "And, oh yeah, I remember seeing something about that plant place, too! Maybe..." And here, Graham started to feel a certain nervousness creeping up on his usually confident self, ducking his head a little with a sheepish rub of the back of his neck, "um, maybe...I mean, if you're going, ans I'm going, then maybe we can, errmm...save time!" Yes, that was it, it would have time, very logical then! Made a lot of sense, really! "....by going together?"

He looked back up with the hopefulness making it more of a question than he intended.

"After dropping off donuts for Triumph," he added, "of course."
