Well, Danny was still a cat despite Steve's attempt to annoy him back to being a human through increasingly unhinged pizza choices. Steve brought him into the office for the second week in a row, put him on his desk and then pulled up a Cat TV show on Youtube for Danny's entertainment.

Look at all those birds, Danny. Doesn't that make you happy?

Steve, for his part, would be 100 percent avoiding the attack mice paperwork, no matter how many times Ralph fake coughed about it.

The Trooper Station was open! Hope you aren't allergic to cats.

Sometimes your partner is a cat and you just learn to live with it for a week.

And sometimes that cat shaped partner also attempted to bat paperwork at you. And that was how you knew it was actually Danny there.

"Not happening, Danno," Steve said with a grin.

Damn it, Steven!

Danny's ears pinned back and he yowled at that in almost an approximation of his usual complaints.

"Don't yell at me," Steve said, snickering. "I'll get to it eventually."

He would not get to it.

He really wouldn't.

Which was why the grumbly cat noises changed to "--just gonna leave it on my desk."

"Junk on the desk, junk on the desk--"

"Why did you bring me to the office?" Danny demanded, scrambling to cover himself.

And the answer was that he would have mowed pitifully if left behind.

Steve reached into his drawer for his emergency t-shirts and tossed one in Danny's general direction. "Because you made really sad noises when I left!"

"I know you have spare cargo pants in there too," Danny warned, more than willing to put on the cheap t-shirt in the meantime.

Those pants would be so long on him.

"But those are for my emergencies," Steve said, mostly to be a pain because he was already looking for them. "Don't you have your own emergency pants?"

"Do you want me to continue to sit on your desk or not?"

Also, those were nice pants. Meant for work.

"I really don't," Steve said, handing him the pants. "These are gonna look dumb, though."

[hatesparadise]

"I'll live." The troopers would get pictures of him in them. And laugh.

God, Steve had missed that tone.

He grinned. "Barely, but yeah."

"...did you try to inflict tuna melt pizza on me?" Danny asked, bending over to roll up the cuffs way too much for his own ego to handle.

[grenadesandohana]

"I did," Steve said, beaming. "It was kosher!"

[hatesparadise]

"...how?"

[grenadesandohana]

"I didn't ask," Steve admitted. "I don't know how things get kosher."

[hatesparadise]

"There's a process," Danny said with the certainty of someone a couple generations removed. "Just--never ask about it around any cousins on Ma's side unless you want a long lecture."

"Noted," Steve said. "Should I bring them tuna melt pizza?"

Under no circumstances.

[hatesparadise]

"Why do you insist on testing me?" Because it was how you flirted, Daniel.

[grenadesandohana]

"Because you love it," Steve said with a grin.

[hatesparadise]

Danny gave him a shove for that. "How long was I out of it?"

[grenadesandohana]

"About a week," Steve said. "I have pictures. You were adorable."

[hatesparadise]

"You took pictures?" No one should be shocked by this.
