"Okay, guys, I have an important announcement to make."

The teens gathered around Eddie, looking anywhere from vaguely interested to not paying attention at all.

Eddie flapped one of the sides of his cape. "We look fucking awesome in these things."

Everybody was wearing sweet capes.

You know who didn't think he looked fucking awesome in his cape?

Yeah, Ulysses was uncharacteristically wearing all black underneath his cape, because he hadn't been able to find anything in his closet that didn't seem to clash (in the wrong way) with the garish red of the cape's upturned collar thing.

He was even hesitant about showing up here in this outfit, but, well. It wasn't like he felt up to going to the mainland, either. (Also: Eddie was here.) "You too, huh?"

"Yeah, we all got 'em," Eddie said, flapping his (black) cape again. "It's so cool."

Eddie loving something theatrical and over the top should not surprise anyone.

And here was Uly's face scrunching up with doubt.

"Is it?"

"Uh, yeah, capes are always awesome," Eddie said. "You look great!"

Ulysses looked down at his cape, then looked up again.

"Thanks?"

He wasn't buying it.

"Red's a good color on you," Eddie said with a nod. "Very 70's Dracula, when everyone was trying to be like Dario Argento with the colors."

"... Thanks." He'd already said that, yeah, but it sounded more genuine this time. Perplexed, but still. "And, uh. I guess you're kind of rocking that cape, too."
