There were two cheese pandas in the store that day. One of them was the regular cheese panda, and one of them was Apu, dressed up as the cheese panda.
He had originally dressed up as Summer, but the moment she saw him sporting a pink tank top and a red ponytail, she immediately said "No" and sent him home to change.
Like, she got it? Of course he'd want to be her, but it was just weird and a little creepy, and that whole turning into your costume thing didn't even happen every year, anyway, Apu, god.
She was a little disappointed that the costume he came back in was the panda, though. Sure, it made the most sense, was probably one of the easier ones, but she would have loved it if he waltzed back in here dressed up as the Squishy machine, or something.
