Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

After a somewhat... spirited conversation with Marc last night ("You did what?") Steven, amazingly, managed to get some rest.

Thus he was on time for work that day and, other than possible plans to nip out during his lunch break, he could focus on research.

The research was on current portal fares for next week, but it was research all the same.

Wanda had told Marc to thank Steven for the food and all, but she figured she should also do it in person. Besides, she could use the fresh air after spending all day yesterday holed up in her apartment.

She had never actually been in the museum before, and immediately got distracted by the displays. Who knew this island had this kind of stuff?

Steven immediately perked up at seeing her. "Wanda! Hello. How are you? Here for a visit or...?"

It didn't occur to Steven that she might be there for him.

"Uh, no, not really." Though she might have to at another time. Some of this stuff was cool. "I came to thank you, actually. For the food the other day."

"Oh!" Steven was pleasantly surprised. "Did you like it? I didn't know if you had any food preferences or the like. Thought, well, who doesn't like biscuits? Or hoped, anyway."

Wanda's immediate thought was "those weren't biscuits" then realized she had been in this country for too long.

"They were great," Wanda assured him. "And good for you getting Marc to deliver them. That probably wasn't easy."

"Not as hard as you'd think," Steven said. "He wanted to have a chat with you anyway. Sort of took advantage of him going in that direction, really."

That Marc had ended up actually enjoying the conversation with Wanda had surprised Marc as much as anyone.

"Though you're right it can be a fight getting him to do as he needs some days," Steven said. Not starting fights with Steven's classmates, for example. "He's stubborn, that one."

Unlike Steven who was the model of flexibility and compromise at all times.

"Oh, he's not so bad," Wanda said with a wry smile. "He's actually pretty funny; but I've always liked dry humor."

Did you want Steven thinking you were extra wonderful, Wanda? Because appreciating Marc Spector was a fast way to get Steven to think you were extra wonderful.

"He is, isn't he?" Steven said. "Even at his worst he means well."

Like starting fights with Steven's classmates. Not that Steven was letting Marc off the hook just yet.

"He liked you," Steven said. "Not - I don't mean in a creepy way. He just said he could see why I thought you were so lovely."

Probably went without saying Marc hadn't used those exact words. But he'd used words. That was big for him.

Wanda smiled. "Well I'm very glad it's not in a creepy way."

Though, let's be real, Wanda could handle herself even if it had been in a creepy way.

Nell was out and about today and decided to stop in and say hello. "Good morning, Steven. How are you doing today?"

It occurred to Steven that perhaps he should clarify. "He didn't - whatever you spoke about he didn't tell me. We can keep things private between us if we need. I only know you had a nice chat."

"Nell!" Steven smiled at her. "Hello. Doing all right. How are you? How's the shop?"

"I don't mind if he tells you anything," Wanda assured him. "Most of my mistakes have been televised, and shown on the news over and over again. I probably have a 'controversies' section on Wikipedia."

"Good to know," Steven said. "If ever you need it though, just tell us. It's no problem. Only thing we won't do is if it might hurt us, you know?"

Speaking of hurt and things in Wikipedia entries... "I did look after you mentioned it. At the wedding. Your entry. Well, the you of my world. I'm so sorry, all you've been through. How are you? I mean obviously it's hard but at the moment? Doing all right?"

"I'm doing well and the shop, ell," she smiled at him. "The shop is wonderful. I'm loving it."

"Of course it is," Steven said. "You're running it aren't you? And the kittens?"

He asked about you first, Nell, be flattered.

"I've been okay." Which was the truth. She had been better after getting something to focus on. "How have you been? Do anything cool for Halloween?"

Wanda hadn't, and that was a shame. It was one of her favorite holidays.

"Nothing for the day of," Steven admitted. "Oh! Speaking of holidays, I am doing something in December. Llewellyn and I are having a Hanukkah party. You're welcome to come. It's not religious or anything. Mainly an excuse to be with friends and eat fried foods, really."

"That would be nice," Wanda said, always finding it cute how sweet and earnest Steven was about these types of things. "I assume you've also heard about the ugly sweater Christmas party that Annie and Summer throw? That one is also not religious."

It was more about getting completely wasted and wearing ugly clothes.

"Well, yes," Nell said. "And I'd hoped, of course, but you never know till you get it up and running, I suppose."

She appreciated that, Steven. "Cygnus and Rigel are marvelous," she said. "They're already so much bigger. I always forget what that's like - how fast they grow, I mean."

Michael decided he wanted to meet this guy who looked just like Marc but geeked out about Egypt. So he swung by the museum sometime in the afternoon.

". . . Wow. He wasn't kidding, you guys do look alike!"

"I had, thank you," Steven said. "Annie's another lovely one like you, isn't she? Kind as the day is long. Or, well, nights are at this time of year."

"They'll be as big as tigers soon," Steven said. He was joking. He knew cats didn't get that big.

Though these were Fandom cats...

Nell laughed. "That would be rather problematic," she said. "Though I have to admit that I would quite enjoy it."

Almost like having dogs again. Which she would not mention to Steven for reasons.

"She's really great," Wanda agreed wholeheartedly. "One of the first friends I made in town. Bonded over the whole lady superhero thing."
