Despite all of his promises and reassurances, it still took a little convincing to get Liz to just take the remainder of the week off so that she could rest up and feel a little better and to shift her priorities to something just a bit more important than whether or not the weekly expense reports got to Broom or not. But to ease her mind about it, Prompto dedicated himself to the task that day, especially since, really, in the coming months, it probably wouldn't hurt to shift some of that work his way regardless, because she had enough on her plate already, and what was he doing, anyway? Fuck all, that's what. And he had all that lost time to make up for, too...

Granted, it only took an hour of inventory and budgeting before he felt like his eyes were going to glaze over, but he shook his head when his attention started to drift off, and focused back in on the computer, half wondering if his time wouldn't be better spent trying to figure out a process to automate this a little more.

Actually...with a renewed spark of inspiration, Prompto now leaned into the computer and started poking around in some code instead, which was way more interesting (and a good way to brush up on his skills; man, was he rusty!) and he hoped effective, because otherwise....it might be a long, long day...

Nell was out and about today and thought she'd stop by the Photo Hut to see how Liz was doing or perhaps have another chance to talk to Prompto again. "Oh hello, Prompto!"

The sound of the door opening had pulled Prompto away from the computer so that by the time Nell had greeted him, he'd managed to blink and pull his brain out of coding enough to process without too much of a pause.

"Oh, hey, Nell!" He grinned over at her, code-fog clearing just a little bit more. "How's it going? Did you need help with some photo stuff? Oh!" Some of it had cleared enough to remember that he wasn't usually the one working down here on Thursdays. "Were you looking for Liz? She's upstairs, I can go get her if you need her."

Assuming she wasn't napping, which he sincerely hoped she was, because she should be.

"Oh no," Nell said. "Don't disturb her! I hope she's resting or at least taking things easy. It's hard when you're in a family way. I did bring one of my jams over, because I know she liked it. I thought it might be a nice treat for her."

She handed it to Prompto "I did truly enjoy talking to you the other day. It was such a relief having someone who knows what it's like."

"Oh," Prompto's smile brightened even more as he took the gift from Nell, a little crooked, definitely pleased, and he held it almost gently as if he was afraid he'd somehow manage to drop it or break it before he had a chance to get it upstairs. "Thank you! That's definitely going to be a good treat for her, she's going to love it! I actually....I actually wanted to swing by your place sometime this week, and see if you had anything, like, you know, with your teas or lotions, that might be particularly good for helping her out. She's actually having a really rough time of it this week, and I mean, you know....anything at all that could help. I figured..." His smile went sheepish, almost apologetic, for his own helplessness in this matter, "...you might know a little bit more about it..."

Because he sure as hell was way out of his league with this one!

"And it was really nice talking to you, too," he added. "Actually, there's some news on that front, too. I might have another one for our Time-Displaced Anonymous, if we ever followed through with that. My friend Ignis showed up just this last week, too, and he's in the same boat as me and Gladio."

"I'm sure I do," she assured him. "And I can make up some teas especially for pregnant women that are safe and will help with sleep or safely give a little added energy. I've got some soothing lotions and tinctures too. Is there anything in particular that's bothering her?"

Nell couldn't help but smile at that. "It would be great if we could follow through with it," she said. "And I wonder if maybe Lana would be interested in joining as well. She was gone for quite a while."

"Oh, that sounds perfect!" said Prompto eagerly. "About the teas, the lotions, the group....all of it. The more, the merrier, right? And Lana always seemed cool, back in school."

There was a little bit of a proud, crooked grin, though, since Nell was one of the few people who could appreciate the nuances in a statement like that.

"And she's mostly been really tired," he added. "And kind of sore and achey, I think? So anything to help with that would be great."

"She was," Nell agreed. "Back in school." And she smiled at him, understanding the nuances there. "She still is really."

She nodded. "I can give you a lotion to rub her feet and a tea for the achiness. M'told giving a pregnant woman a foot rub makes you a king among men."

Prompto let out a soft laugh, face filling with red, and he rubbed the back of his neck a little. "Y-yeah,' he said, "I was kind of thinking something like that, too."

Well, maybe not exactly that, buuuut....

"But thanks, Nell. I'd really appreciate it. I'm pretty sure I need all the help I can get right now."

"Of course," Nell said. "I'm happy to help. And I can stop by and talk to her, see if there's anything in particular she thinks she'd like."

Sometimes a woman would tell another woman something easier than a man. At least in Nell's experience, which was admittedly not the norm.

And communication was, admittedly, not exactly the strongest pillar of Prompto and Liz's relationship lately, either.

"And she should know that better than anyone," he said.

"And she might not want to worry you or ask you for anything extra," Nell agreed.

"Well, that's just....silly," said the man who spent most of Tuesday just trying to convince Liz to let him even cover for her today. "She can ask me for anything."

And he was going to worry about everything, regardless, anyway, too. Sooooo.....

"Well you and I both know that, but pregnant women aren't always the most rational," Nell said. "All those hormones and their body is changing. It's hard."
