A slight change in how next week was going to pan out had Prompto distracted with a new direction in certain plans he'd been working on, which meant he was incredibly distracted by his phone, waiting for certain calls or emails to come through and texting intently with Hellboy about next Thursday. To the point where he almost didn't notice Apu coming up behind him and placing an apple on his head.

Thankfully, someone putting an apple on your head was a pretty good way to get someone's attention, and Prompto, confused, lifted a hand to confirm that it was an apple on his head, then looking to Apu in confusion.

He didn't even notice that Apu was wearing a princess dress, because he was too distracted by the bow and arrow he was pulling to aim at him.

"No," said Prompto, very quickly, and immediately ducking behind the counter. "I obviously have no idea what sort of weird thing you're celebrating today, but I'm pretty sure shooting arrows at your coworkers is pretty hardcore against OSHA, dude!"

But he was kind of curious, so he did, tentatively, put the apple on the counter to see what would happen.

The fact that the arrow thwunked into the counter itself told Prompto that it was a very good thing he'd noticed the apple when he had. And maybe he'd start paying a little more attention to his work today rather than his phone.

Huh. Maybe that was the lesson Apu was trying to teach him all along?

Doubtful, but it probably made more sense than the real reason Apu was trying to shoot apples off people's heads today.

Tangentially, there was a sale on apples, too!

Since it was getting a colder now, Liz decided to make soup to go with the wraps she had made for lunch, she also had a couple of bottles of water with her as she made her way to the counter.

“Hi,” she smiled brightly, “how has everything been this morning?”

"Hi," said Prompto, with a little bit of sigh, shaking his head and looking like Liz probably didn't even want to get him started. But, of course, she asked, and so he would, especially since her own safety might be at risk, too.

"Apu keeps trying to shoot apples off people's heads with a bow and arrow," he said, and figured that would do a pretty good job of explaining to her just how his morning had been. But, just in case, he rolled his eyes and shook his head again for extra emphasis, before giving another sigh and looking at Liz with a soft smile.

"So it is really nice to see you, but, please, stay away from the apples at all cost."

Liz blinked a little and her gaze went in the direction of the apples before turning back to Prompto, “okay, I’ll stay away from the apples,” she promised him, “it sounds like you’ve had an eventful morning,” she grinned.

"It's definitely more....lively here than at the PH," Prompto admitted a bit wryly, with one more sigh as he leaned a little at the counter and just took a moment to soak in her presence to feel better about the whole situation, "but I'm pretty sure avoiding being arrowed by your coworker is pretty solid grounds for getting to take a nice, relaxing lunchbreak."

His grin broadened. "How has your morning been?" he asked. "Hopefully way more boring than mine had been..."

“It was quite boring by comparison, I definitely didn’t have to worry about getting shot at with arrows,” Liz admitted with a smile, “I think you’ve definitely earned a nice lunchbreak,” she started to get everything arranged on the counter for him, “I made soup and wraps,” she added.

"I love soup and wraps," Prompto was pleased to report. "And I love you."

None of these should have surprised anyone, and neither should Prompto pushing himself up on the counter to better give Liz a kiss in gratitude.

"Thank you. This all looks amazing, Liz."

Liz went bright red at that as she leaned in for the kiss, “and I love you,” she said shyly, as she looked up at him happily.

“I thought since it’s getting colder you might like soup as well,” she told him, “I hope you like it, it’s roasted vegetable,”

"I bet it's going to be the best soup I've ever had," Prompto decided, knowing what a bold statement that was when he was used to Ignis' cooking.

Liz flushed even more at that, “well I hope it doesn’t disappoint then, ,” she said with a grin. “I’ve never actually tried making a soup before,” she admitted.

"First try, huh?" Prompto asked, quirking an amused eyebrow at Liz as he went to open one of the containers to see the final result of this maiden voyage. "Nice! Branching out a little! And it looks like you're not even going to need to replace a bunch of pots and pans for the effort, either."

Liz giggled, “I did manage to make the soup without any disasters happening in the kitchen,” she smiled, “I feel like with winter approaching it would be something nice to have for meals, be something different,” she tilted her head, “it may also be the pregnancy cravings talking as well, I do feel like having a fair bit of soup,”

"Yeah?" Prompto asked, tilting his head curiously. "Any particular kind of soup? "

For future reference, and all that.

"Or is it a whole 'I don't care, as long as it's hot and wet and maybe goopy.'"

What a way to really make it appetizing there, Prompto.

“I think it’s more of the latter one,” Liz considered with a smile at the way Prompto had described it, “soup in general sounds really nice right about now,”

Which was why she had ended up making a fair bit of the soup for lunch.

“It has to be hot though,” she clarified, “I do know there is cold soup but I would like hot soup,” she added.
