Eddie was alone at the bowling alley today. All of the teens were spending time with their families or whatever. So that sucked. To make things worse, Christmas music was playing and he couldn't figure out where the hell it was coming from.

So, no, there would be no song of the day because once Eddie found out where the music was coming from he was going to destroy it.

"Wow, it is quiet in here," Ulysses observed, intelligently, as he came in.

Only to reconsider just a beat later, of course.

"... Is that Christmas music?"

"Unfortunately," Eddie said, sounding irritated. "I had nothing to do with it."

Just in case anybody thought he might be a Christmas guy.

Ulysses promptly held up his hands, somewhat placatingly.

"Really didn't think you did."

“Sorry,” he said, running a hand through his hair. “I just don’t know where it’s coming from.”

Ulysses took a cursory look around the room, but just ended up shrugging.

"I mean, this is Fandom," he said. "Could be coming from anywhere. Could actually be coming from, like, nowhere."

“I need it to stop,” Eddie said. “It’s burning my brain.”

This time, Uly's look around was slower. And maybe a little more pointed.

"I'm pretty sure you don't even need to be here tonight?"

“I sleep here, dude.” Which was just…sad. Very sad.

"... Oh." Yeah, maybe Ulysses was a little taken aback. "I -- did not know that."

He was also overdoing something with the arch of his eyebrows, trying to seem like that was totally cool (maybe?) while trying to decide whether he should say 'I'm sorry' or something.

“There’s a couch in the back,” he said, pointing his thumb back. “I used to live in a trailer, so it’s about even to what I’m used to.”

"Yeah, but... Here, it feels like there's probably, like, other options." Ulysses paused. "Like I'm pretty sure most people just work one shift a week and still afford apartments."

Or at least beds.

The fact you could work one day a week and afford an apartment in Maryland was solid proof this place was magical.

“Well I don’t pay rent here,” he said. “And I didn’t mind it until the music started. I didn’t know who Mariah Carey was before today, but she is now my sworn enemy.”

Be more dramatic, Edward.

Eddie lifted his eyebrows. “Oh? Did you have another suggestion?”

"Well, uh," Ulysses said, hesitating, "I think some of the restaurants might be open pretty late?"

Oh, look, his hand was going up to his hair again. Head tilt, fingers in the curls and everything, definitely not a nervous tick.

"And, like... I have an apartment in town? That's probably not being haunted by the ghost of Mariah?" Stop making everything sound like a question, Uly. "If, uh. If that's something you'd be into."

Eddie’s eyes lit up in amusement. “Well that’s rather gentlemanly of you.”

Then added, “And if this is an attempt to get into my pants, it’s working.”

"I mean, um. That's also very much an 'if that's something you'd be into' sort of thing." A beat. "And apparently you are."

"I am," he confirmed with a nod. "The fact there'd be no Mariah at your apartment is an added bonus."

Ulysses hazarded the beginning of a smile. (Okay, grin. It was a grin.)

"Well," he said, trying to tuck his hair behind his ear, unsuccessfully. "Well, you're totally welcome, then. To my... very non-divafied place."

"My hero," Eddie said with a matching grin of his own. "Give me a minute to grab some stuff and we can go, okay?"

He doubted he'd get any bowlers tonight.

Slowly realizing what a goddamn mess his apartment was right now.
