The Perk- Tuesday Morning

After the standard morning run, and the reminder that the colder weather was definitely on its way, Dwight decided to stop by The Perk for some liquid fuel.  Sure, he had coffee back home. But the temptation was too strong and when he found out from the Barista that they had the mocha peppermint bark drinks back, well, he obviously had to have one right? So, Dwight was rewarding himself with a mocha peppermint monstrosity as he sat by the window and went over the mental to-do list he had for the week.

After a...bit of a later start to his morning than usual, Ignis stopped by the Perk on his way to the gym to see if Gladio wasn't too busy for a good spar or some other training. Of course, he already knew the answer to that, Gladio was never too busy for training, but he figured he'd bring some coffee along for incentive all the same. Especially since Gladio also liked all those ridiculously sugary speciality lattes, but, well....Of Gladio's many admirable attributes, his taste was not among them.

And since those drinks took a little longer to make, Ignis could use that time to just sort of soak in the atmosphere and listen for a bit. Not just for any strains of voices that might be familiar, but also for the general ambiance that he would never cease to find a certain comfort and appreciation in.

It seemed a bit quieter this morning than some of the other times he'd been in, so Ignis was able to track the voice easily enough, turning his head that was with a nod of acknowledgement. "Dwight," he said. "It's going...well, thank you."

The hesitation was not so much one of someone who was doubting the validity of that assessment so much as one who merely felt there was a better word for it, though they could not quite conceive of it in that moment.

"And yourself? Was this past holiday one you celebrate?"

"Well, it's hardly one of my own," Ignis noted, "but I could hardly keep myself from getting swept up in a celebration so dedicated to the art of the feast. So I kept up the tradition by spending most of it in the kitchen. I rather enjoy cooking with turkey; it's a bit more similar to the fowl found across Eos than, say, your more popular chicken."

The versions of which in his world tended to be large and rideable and would make Prompto pout if you ever suggested eating one.

The barista called out that Ignis' order was ready, so he turned a moment to fetch the drinks nestled conveniently in a to-go tray, nodded with his thanks before grabbing it. He then turned back to Dwight, taking a few steps closer to where he was presumably sitting.

"What sort of things?" he asked. "As an outsider, looking in, but terribly curious about other interpretations on the holiday."

Marc had already done a few things that morning so he figured he'd earned a cup of coffee. Regular, no weird flavored crap. He gave a nod of greeting to Dwight when he saw him.

Marc saluted back with his coffee in turn.

"Busy," he said, by way of an answer. "You?"

"Luckily my list is small," Marc said. And would be smaller if he could convince Steven they didn't need to get each other presents. "And I don't do parties."

"Bad time to put in the custom order for a six foot tall menorah then?" Marc replied.

"Keep it in mind for next year," Marc said. He was still kidding. "Anybody order anything interesting?"

Marc was mentally skipping right past any mentions of kid's toys. "Least it's good for business? Helps keep the lights on?"

Much as anybody on the island ever needed financial help, given they all could live comfortably on one day of work a week.

Marc had a pretty good system for cutting himself off when he was thinking too much but it wasn't one anybody else could try so he kept that to himself. Instead he went with, "Does get quiet around here. Past few days have been like a ghost town."

Marc probably shouldn't put it that way given that the island might take a hint from that and provide actual ghosts.

"Less people dying is always good," Marc said, since he had a vague idea of what Dwight's life back home was like. "Even if it means the cops are bored."

Sorry, Watts.
