Caritas, Monday

Well, it was the second week here and Jane was trying out drink specials. It helped that she'd found some fancy looking goblets in the back, hidden behind some boxes to help inspire her.

Also, Google was a thing.

So, there was a sign with:

Special of the Day
Heart of the Dragon

Which was a good start, right? Maybe once she settled in a little more, there'd be more than one drink on the list. But it wasn't like Tino was going to help her out there. Not while he was still sulking and--was he lifting some weights?

"Weird," Jane muttered, shaking her head to clear that from her thoughts.

Raiden gave the specials board a wary look before asking, "It's not--there's not...actual dragons' hearts, is it?"

Where he was from, dragons were shapeshifters, and while Gluttony wasn't opposed to a bit of light cannibalism, Raiden as a person had to draw some lines.

"Nooo," Jane said slowly. "I don't think I've met a dragon before. But somehow I wouldn't be surprised if they're out there back home."

What with the Norse pantheon living on Earth.

"Really? I've met lots. I don't think I've ever met a water dragon, though," he realized. "They're really rare. Especially these days."

"I can ask about it next time I'm in New Asgard," she offered. Valkyrie probably had some things to say about it.

"Let me know when you're going," Raiden reminded her, "and I'll send pizza!" For those poor, pizza-less souls. "I'll take the dragon heart thing." Since it didn't have actual hearts in it.

...or did it?

"Great!" she said brightly, starting to make it. "It's just normal mead. I haven't brought anything back yet."

Because, hey, maybe godly mead would work for him!

Godly mead probably fell into the range of ambrosia, so it should work! Normal mead...not so much, but, "I'm sure it'll taste good!" he assured her.

"Plus, fun glass," she said, starting the whole process of the drink with glances at the recipe.

"Oh, that is a fun glass!" Raiden exclaimed, delighted.

The man was easily amused, okay?

"There you go," Jane said, presenting the drink to him with aplomb. "Tell me what you think, okay?"

The clinic had (presumably) been quiet today and Stark was able to head over to the bar after his shift was over. He had offered to taste test things for Jane, after all.

"You made a drink! Hello, Jane."

"Hello, Stark," Jane replied with a grin. "I did! I'm trying out new things."

"Then I'll try your new things," Stark said with a nod.

Jane wasn't Summer so he wasn't concerned about actual hearts in his beverage.

"Great!" It helped that she wasn't even sure about real dragons being a thing back home or not.

They didn't have space dragons where Stark was from. At least not he knew about. Space was a big place.

"What's in it?"

He'd drink most things, honestly. Even Summer things.

"Whiskey and mead and some wine for color," Jane said, looking at the recipe for more than a few times as she made it. "It's mostly just the glasses I was interested in."

"The glasses are very pretty," Stark said. "I'm sure it will be good."

Or maybe just strong but that was almost the same thing.

"You'll have to let me know," she said, pushing in toward him with a flourish.

Stark nodded and picked up his fancy glass to take a sip.

"I like it," he said firmly. "And it's very pretty."

Jane gave a quiet 'yay' and beamed. "Well, I'll have to keep looking for new things each week."

"Should I come back next week then, to try another drink?"

"If you want to," Jane replied. "I'll try my best to come up with something new each time, but we might be at the mercy of what fun glasses we find."

Or maybe if there was a surplus of loopy straws.

"It doesn't always have to be new," Stark pointed out. "Kitty doesn't always have new things."

Summer nearly always did but Summer was Summer.

"I'm sure there are more fun glasses. Or you could order some?"

"I can see if I can," Jane replied with a glance over toward Tino. "I'll ask Kitty."

"I think I've seen some here before." But who knew what Tino might have done to/with them.

"I don't think she would say you couldn't order different ones."

Tiki mugs, maybe! Or maybe the island would just make some things magically appear.

"Oh! And umbrellas," she added. Because who didn't enjoy a fun drink umbrella?

"I like the little umbrellas." Stark was often delighted by fanciful things that existed just to be cute.

"Maybe the little sword toothpicks?" Work some garnishes in there, Jane!

"Let me write this down," Jane said, grabbing a napkin to add those to a list of things for future specials.

"It's nice when the drinks look fun," Stark said. "Like when Summer makes the jello that looks like little pies."

"I heard you had a new job," Rey greeted her.

"I do!" Jane said, gesturing around to show it off for her. "Would you like a drink?"

"Do you need to practice?" Rey checked first. She didn't know Jane's bartending skills.

"Well, it can't hurt," Jane replied. "I've gotten pretty good at pouring the usual stuff at least."

"The let's try the special. I have no idea what it is," Rey said. She was a drunk nurser even if it was bad!

"Oh, it's just a cocktail," Jane said. "In a fancy glass."

The glass was the most important part.

"If it's in a fancy glass, I have to try it," she reasoned.

"It's always a good reason to order something," Jane replied playfully. "That or if it glows."

"I think a glowing drink might be a little much for me, personally," Rey admitted.

"Maybe it if was for a space drink." They were definitely glowing somewhere in space.

"I don't actually know any space drinks," Rey admitted. "I know the Corellian whiskey that was on the Falcon for years and that's about it."

"Corellian whiskey?" Jane asked, curious.

"It's just whiskey from Corellia," Rey said, almost apologetic. "I don't know what makes it different than anywhere else."

Jane had to frown at that. "Well, maybe we have something back home. Not everyone from Asgard is actually from Asgard originally. There are a lot of aliens who ended up with them along the way."
