One of the teens had their hand caught in one of the skeeball holes. Eddie didn't want to call the hot firefighters for something so stupid so instead he sent some of the other teens with butter from the popcorn machine to try to lube him out.

Even if it didn't work, the place smelled delicious.

Nancy took a little while to linger, vaguely fretfully, over by the skeeball for a moment to watch the commotion before heading over to the concessions counter when she came in today.

"What was he even doing reaching in there?" she asked Eddie by way of greeting, still glancing over her shoulder at the poor stuck guy.

"I think he dropped his vape pen down there while doing maintence," Eddie said. "Which is understandable, I'd go after mine too."

Those were one of his favorite things about the 21st century.

"I mean," Nancy suggested carefully, "maybe there should be a rule about not using your...vape pen when you're working on machines?"

She said that with a question in her voice regarding both whether she was using the term 'vape pen' correctly, and also whether Eddie had considered this, himself, as arguably this kid's boss.

"I mean, wouldn't you want to be chill while handling dangerous machinery?" Not that he ever heard of someone being killed by a skeeball machine but whatever.

"Sure, but doesn't the effect last?" Nancy pointed out, admittedly a little unsure. "Maybe, like, do your thing and then put it down so you don't drop it into skeeball?"

Also, yeah, that seemed like a good way to lose fingers, but she was also not a skeeball expert.

Even if you included Nancy herself...no, not really.

"Maybe it's a new rule based on this experience," Nancy suggested, holding out her hands palms-up like she thought this was a very reasonable proposal.

Steven hadn't intended for there to be a theme to when he visited the bowling alley but, well, there they were. He came in and looked around to see who was about.

Eddie was there, of course, sitting on the counter and now handing a bag of ice to a very buttery-smelling teenager. "We'll hold a funeral for your lost vape, dude, I promise."

It was Fandom, you couldn't assume.

"Not that I know of," he said. "But I know you can get attached if it's a really good one."

"I've had pens I'm rather fond of," Steven said with sympathy. Not vape pens, of course. But a good Pilot G2, now that was something. "Sorry for the loss there, then."

"Dropping something off, actually," Steven said. He rummaged in his satchel, taking a moment to try to count how many people he could spot working. Then counting again to be sure he didn't get it wrong.

That done he pulled out an appropriate number of small gift bags. "Here you are. Happy Purim."

"I mean, not technically, no," Eddie agreed. "But I believe he was trying to fix it before he got into this snafu."
