Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

Steven was in a cheerful mood at work that morning. Blathers had asked him to go through some old records and update them for the current exhibits. Most people might find this boring, but Steven loved this sort of reading and note taking in the way some people might enjoy watching an action film or sporting event.

Some of the ones about past island events were a little confusing - and surprisingly full of raccoons in some cases - but that only made it more interesting to read as far as Steven figured.

As always, he could be interrupted for visitors though.

And as always (or bi-weekly at lest) there was a visitor around lunchtime.

“Hello, you,” said visitor greeted Steven as he approached the welcome desk.

"Hello, you," Steven said, greeting said visitor with words and a smile that only that visitor ever got. "Time for the highlight of my day already?"

“Let me double-check,” Watts said, free hand reaching into his waistcoat for his pocketwatch. “Ah, yes. That confirms it. It is indeed the highlight hour,” he noted after he flipped said watch open.

Naturally Steven had to do the same with his own pocketwatch. He made a show of taking it out and looking at it. "What do you know? Mine says the same thing."

The sight of which just made Watts smile all the wider.

“Well, there you have it,” Watts said, tucking his watch back away and then reaching to take off his hat and deposit it on the desk. “Can’t argue with that.” Not that Steven had been doing so at all.

"I mean whole point of the watch is that it's accurate," Steven said. He put up the sign to say he was taking lunch and then came around the desk to join Llewellyn. "So have to trust what it says, don't we?"

“Indeed we must,” Watts nodded.

A quick glance around, and he offered Steven his arm for the walk to their usual spot.

Steven took the offered arm. He felt bad that Llewellyn still felt the need to check, but he was proud of Llewellyn being brave enough to offer his arm all the same. "After you."

“With you,” Watts said, as they started to walk.

"Even better," Steven said. He gave Llewellyn's arm a squeeze. "How's your morning been?"

“After you left? Dreadfully lonesome, I’m afraid,” Watts informed him dramatically.

"I know what you mean," Steven said, "I'd have gone spare without distractions."

“Luckily I did have some exercises in Chinese to occupy me,” Watts assured Steven.

Steven felt a tension he didn't even know he was holding relax at being told Llewellyn hadn't lacked for things to do. He gave Llewellyn's arm another squeeze, figuring Llewellyn had told him that on purpose. "I'm glad. Thank you."

He absolutely had. “Still missed you, though,” he said. “You shall have to make it up to me,” he declared boldly.

This was one of many reasons why Llewellyn was a good beau.

"Do I?" Steven asked. He didn't seem at all bothered by this prospect. "How?"

And despite his boldness just a moment ago, now a slight blush coloured his cheeks. “I’ll tell you once we’re sat at our table.” Where none but the fish would see.

"All right," Steven said. He gave Llewellyn a reassuring look, even as he considered the blush to be attractive. "Shall I sit in my usual seat?"

“Please,” Watts confirmed with a nod.

Steven did so, making sure that his pocket watch did not fall out in the process. He was still getting used to how to handle keeping it in the pocket it was named after. Luckily there was the chain to help prevent it from being lost. "All right. Ready when you are."

Watts took his own seat, and then instead of immediately getting started on the unpacking of their lunch, darted another quick glance around to make sure it was just them and the fish. Satisfied in that regard, he then leaned forward with the clear intent to claim a kiss.

Llewellyn was more than welcome to claim that kiss, and several others besides if he wanted them. Steven had certainly been thinking about kissing him since he'd walked into the Museum.

Watts didn't linger in the kiss as long as he might have were they at home, pulling away with a fond smile. "Missed you," he said. Because it had been whole hours.

Understandable. Steven was happy with whatever Llewellyn was comfortable to give. "Missed you too. Been far too long."

Hours.

"Well," Watts said, as he began unpacking their lunch: char kuey teow, rojak salad, vegetable fried rice and for dessert, some pandan cake. "You've got me now."
