The park- Saturday afternoon

It was hard not to miss all the kids today, or the presence of all the kids, and Rey had some mixed feelings at not having anyone shown up for her. She'd really probably gotten off easy, considering the different ways things could turn out, so she was overall fine with it and was just going about her weekend.

Which meant cutting through the park while running errands today, and wondering if she should take the opportunity to do a little bit of lightsaber work while it was at least relatively quiet here.

Marshan had been going to find her mom, but then there was another Force signature, and it felt interesting, and it wasn't like Mom was going anywhere, right?

So here, Rey, have a curious little Force-sensitive Chiss girl peeking at you curiously.

Rey could tell that someone else was around, but rather than calling out and maybe scaring them, she peeked back at her with a little wave.

Marshan grinned back and ran over. "Hi! Are you a Messenger or a Knight or a Jedi or a Sith? Or something else?"

"I'm a Jedi," Rey told her. "Those were so many choices you just gave me."

[usual_suspects]

Marshan shrugged. "There's a lot of people! I figured you probably weren't a Sith, because you feel kinda Light, but also I'm not always good at figuring that out and also there's Uncle Arallt. Hi, I'm Marshan! Do you live here?"

Eventually she might take a breath.

"I do. I'm Rey," she said. "Are you visiting someone this weekend?"

"Yep!" Marshan nodded. "My mom. Only it's a surprise. Maybe. Unless she feels me here. But if there's other Force people here, maybe she won't!" she said with a grin. "Are there lots of you around?"

"A few. Sometimes more visit on the weekends," Rey said. "Is your mom Lana?"

Hazarding a guess here.

Whatever was the giveaway?

Marshan nodded. "Do you know her?"

"I do," Rey told her. "We talk sometimes. She's nice."

"Mostly at home," Marshan agreed. "Except when people are being stupid. That's when Daddy says she gets most Sith. Mommy says she just hates" she slowed down to carefully pronounce the next word, "incompetence."

"That must be very frustrating for her to deal with," Rey said, because her instinct was also to add something about people maybe trying their best but she didn't know how that would go over.

Lana probably heard it a lot from people, so they were all used to it. Marshan, for her part, just shrugged. "I guess. What are Jedi like where you're from?"

"Well, there aren't many at all," Rey said. "I'm hoping to change that, though."

"There's lots where I'm from," Marshan said. "Maybe they could visit."

[thatwaslucky]

"That would be very nice," Rey smiled. "I have some work to do first, though."

Marshan wrinkled her nose. "Grownups always have to work."

"All the more reason to enjoy your age now," Rey told her.

She'd already been working herself but it seemed like a good thing to say.

Marshan thought about that and nodded. "Okay." That made sense.
