The Devil's Nest, Monday Night

The Devil's Nest was back to as normal as it normally go there, and so when Eric swanned in after the sun had gone down, Tiny had already restocked the back storage area and proudly presented Eric with a drink made with the new vodka.

"Thank you," Eric said with a smile, settling in against the bar and waiting for something interesting to happen.

Well, Gladio was coming into the bar, and he certainly thought he was pretty interesting.

"Eric," he said, nodding to his favorite bar owner as he settled into the spot that by now really should have some sort of plaque or nameplate for him.

"Tiny," he added with a nod up toward his third favorite (sorry, Tiny) bartender.

"How's it goin', guys?"

No, third was fair.

"We haven't had anything invade in a few weeks and my vodka supply is refilled, so I cannot complain," Eric said with an appreciate smile at Gladio's shirtlessness.

Some might even say that third was actually fairly generous.

"Didn't even get invaded by a horde of new students ans teachers for the summer," Gladio noted, but he was fine with that, since, you know, fighting those was generally frowned upon. "But, hey, that's great news! Clearly, I'm going to need to get something with vodka to celebrate then, huh?"

"It would show appreciation for all of my hard work," Eric said with a smirk.

His work had been telling Tiny to do things.

"Oh, yeah," Gladio agreed with an amused snort. "I'm sure you were really working up a good sweat over it, too."

"Supervising is a curse," Eric said, sipping from his drink.

Octavia made her way behind the bar pretty much directly upon showing up. It just continued to be the most convenient way of getting exactly whatever drink she wanted.

"Eric," she said, with a tiny bro-nod of a greeting.

Eric smiled back. "Octavia. We've been restocked."

[okteiviakom]

"Good," Octavia rasped, glancing around behind the bar. "And no one's even started building any random structures out of bar supplies, either."

"Yet," Eric added dryly. "At least the ski chalet has moved on."

[okteiviakom]

"I think it melted."

And, oh: another glance, this time across the bar.

"I haven't asked if that did anything to the piano."

"I think we would've heard the yelling if it had," Eric said philosophically.

[okteiviakom]

"Hmh." That sounded dry. But also like agreement. She grabbed herself a glass. "Been pretty quiet here for the past while, since then. Pretty... normal."

For a certain value of the word.

"I think Annie had some kind of were-thing in here during her shift," Eric said. "It also didn't hurt the piano."

More's the pity, his tone added.

"Well, I think I was one, for my shift."

Oh now, that was dry.

Eric laughed. "I'm glad I didn't turn into one. I don't know what a were-vampire would even be. What did you turn into?"

Octavia looked unamused.

(No, she didn't expect it to do anything to his reaction. But still.)

"Nothing funny."

[texted3times]

"If I ask someone else, would they think it was funny?" Eric asked.

[okteiviakom]

"I wouldn't know."

She doubted anyone thought werehyenas were funny, though.

"What kind of animal was it?" Eric asked. "Nothing so generic as a wolf, I trust."

Ugh, Alcide.

Well, if he was gonna keep asking...

"The guys said it was a hyena." A beat. "Do not laugh."

"I won't," Eric promised. "Hyenas are badass. I heard about a weregopher. That I will laugh at."

[okteiviakom]

"I don't think any of it was funny," Octavia drawled, predictably. (Although she still appreciated not getting laughed at, because that saved them from finding out whether she was dumb and/or traumatized enough to try and take a swing at him.) "People were getting attacked."

"Well, you became predators," Eric said. "Others had to be prey. It's the way it works."

Octavia glanced away - conveniently, at a bottle - then back again, like she'd just remembered something.

"Right, I'm talking to a vampire," she said, a little drily. "Of course you would see it like that."
