For the second week running, Vi was feeling pretty good about her life choices when she started her shift.

Which may have led to a certain theme becoming apparent in the display she was setting up.

"A whole class period of pizza wasn't enough for you, huh?" Steph asked as she came back in after her Galactic Field Trips workshop.

"So what you're saying is that you don't want the slices I saved you from class?" Vi asked.

[drumsticksandd20s]

"I love you," Steph said immediately. "Yes, please."

[giveittoyoursister]

Vi grinned and reached under the counter for the container. "It's just tomato, cheese, and basil," she said. "We're working up to fancier kinds."

"Hey. Can't go wrong with the basics," Steph said, hurrying over to lean against the counter across from her. "Anyway I'm kind of in the mood for something simple right now. Bonus points because it's from you."

"You haven't even tried it yet," Vi said with a laugh. "It might be terrible."

It was why she'd had to eat a whole bunch of slices first. In case it was too bad to give to Steph.

"I would worry more about that if you hadn't made dinner so many times," Steph retorted cheerfully. "Besides, I have had the shittiest roadside rest stop pizza and anything is an improvement."

"You've got me there," Vi said, pushing the container towards Steph.

Steph blew her a kiss before taking a slice of pizza out and shoving the entire first third of it into her mouth.

She chewed on it for a few seconds, nodded, and swallowed before saying, "You did good, babe. God, you're the best."

Vi grinned. "Glad to know I beat rest stop pizza."

Steph rolled her eyes playfully and took another couple of bites before responding.

"Without even trying, yeah. Is it a fun class so far?"

She liked it a lot, if only because she got fed as a result.

"Yeah," Vi replied. "I mean there's plenty of food, for a start."

[drumsticksandd20s]

"And I mean, it's pizza. One of the fundamental foods," Steph declared. "Or it should be, anyway. What's not to love? You can literally get all your food groups piled on top of a single glorious piece of cheese-covered bread. And?"

She waggled her mostly-finished slice at Vi, grinning.

"You don't even need silverware to do it. Or a plate, even."

"That is true," Vi said thoughtfully, making a not very serious move towards one of the slices, mostly to see Steph's reaction.

Steph gasped dramatically and put a hand to her chest. "No! My lunch! How could you?"

While not making a single move to stop her, of course.

"What'll you give me to get it back?" Vi asked. Not that she'd actually taken any of it.

Steph tapped the pizza crust against her lips thoughtfully.

"A solid hour of cuddles?"

"A whole hour?" Vi moved her hand back. "You drive a hard bargain."

[drumsticksandd20s]

"I'm open to negotiation," Steph replied. "What would you give me in exchange for the hour of cuddles, if I let you have that piece?"

As if she wouldn't gladly share it with her.

Vi considered her options. "Two hours of cuddles?"

It was almost like the pizza was just a pretext.

[drumsticksandd20s]

Steph made an exaggeratedly indecisive noise. "That's a lot of cuddles. Can we mix it up, sprinkle some making out in there too?"

Like they even needed an excuse. They were just being ridiculous, as Saffron would wholeheartedly attest.

"That's after the pizza, naturally. Can't waste a good lunch."

"I can be persuaded towards some making out." Very, very easily persuaded.

Saffron couldn't even look at them when they were like this. "Oh, of course not."

"I was hoping you would." No, Steph couldn't quite manage to keep her smile from turning goofy at the end there, as she took another slice out of the container and offered it to Vi with a flourish.

Then, a little more seriously, "I could honestly use the snuggle time. Today's field trip kind of creeped me out a little bit."

Vi smiled back as she took the slice, then tilted her head thoughtfully. "Creeped you out how?"

Steph made an uncertain noise as she nibbled at the last of the pizza slice in her hand.

"It was this... incredibly tall city," she said. "Everything was shiny and orderly and clean. Like, impossibly. It made my skin crawl a little."
