Okay, so Summer may have overdone things just a little bit at the gym yesterday, and, hoo boy, was she feeling it today. She'd even tried that ball massage thing that Annie had recommended, but she must have been doing it wrong or something, because she was pretty sure it only ended up making it worse. But, hey, you know, lesson learned, let's maybe not do flirty elliptical runs and locker room sprints after your usual weekly brutal weight lifting session with your trainer who did not go easy.

And at least some of those persistent, pesky, telltale bites and bruises on her neck had gone down a little bit. Not enough to not make her usual pink ensemble come off as maybe just a little trashy, but it was nothing a much more modest collared shirt couldn't take care of.

Which meant the first thing out of her mouth when she came in was a firm and solid "Don't" to Tino, before he even said anything. Was he going to even say anything about it? Maybe not. But Summer didn't want to deal with it if he did, but then she regretted being so blunt right out the gate, because now he was going to be smug at her whenever she asked for help lifting things.

Or maybe even just sometimes moving.

Cutter somehow looked even worse than last week, after his fight with Connor yesterday he hadn’t slept at all last night, so in an effort to not spend time in his flat that evening, he came down to the bar again.

“Scotch, please,” he sighed as he took a seat.

There was, briefly, a slight groan out of Summer, who had to reach for a bottle of scotch for that order, but she was a professional, it was fine, the pain meant it was working, right? But pushing through the soreness of literally any movement right now, Summer did, in fact, pour Cutter his scotch and set it in front of him.

"You look even rougher than I feel," she noted, in a tone to suggest that that was saying a lot right now.

Cutter winced at that, “it looks that bad does it?” he said, not realising just how bad he did actually look, as he gratefully took the scotch, “thank you,” he said, staring down at the glass, “it’s … yesterday wasn’t a good day,” he sighed, “I’m starting to think teaching class with my ex was a bad idea,”

And, of course, Prompto was there, good and early, with to side over the list of names from his earlier Wednesday activity reconnaissance, looking incredibly proud of himself.

For, you know, going to a place. And writing down names. Look, just because a job was easy didn't mean it wasn't important, right?

"Thanks, Prompto," said Summer, with a slightly tired smile as she carefully slid the list forward to give it a cursory glance for any names she knew for a fact would likely show up tonight, at the very least. "How was it? Was it the pool one this week?"

Although, right now, the idea of participating in any of the activities again sounded like the last thing she'd ever want to do, although at least it was for physical reasons and not emotional ones.

"Not the pool one," Prompto reported, with a little bit of a sigh and an apologetic smile sent her way. "It was the gremlin fashion show. This time mixed with that EuroVision thing? I think? Anyway, it was honestly kind of great, not gonna lie...from the spectator's position."

That was a very important distinction.

Summer let out a little bit of a disconsolate groan and gave Watts a very injured frown. "Well, hello to you, too, Detective Watts."

And then she sighed, because that was....fair.

"I just...went a little too hard, I think," she said. "At the gym yesterday. It..."

Mmm, how best to explain?

"Adrenaline's one hell of a drug."

And she knew drugs!

“I see,” Watts nodded. “Perhaps you ought to abstain from this- adrenaline- the next time?” Yes, he was assuming her statement to be literal. He wasn’t up to date on relatively recent medical advances like the discovery of adrenaline (and epinephrine).

“Hello, you,” Watts said with a beaming smile, head tilting slightly to indicate the empty seat, which was nice and close. Within shoulder-bumping distance.

Connor slipped in and took a seat at the bar. He was doing his best right then to not look around too much. He didn't want to know if Cutter was there or not. It wouldn't make a difference really one way or another.

"Hey summer... Can i get the usual round... Maybe two?" Connor said with a nod.

"Usual round first," said Summer, with the slightest bit of a nod, and she started to set out the first set for Connor, albeit...very slowly. "Then we'll see about that second. How are you doing, Connor?"

She could guess, if he was coming in already with eyes on round two and looking like he wished he had some kind of horse blinders on with regards to the rest of the bar.

Steven came in a bit later than his usual Wednesday night arrival. He went to the bar and hoped he wasn't too late for one of the shots Summer so kindly made for him.

The day Summer Smith ran out of jello shots would be a very sad day indeed.

Even if today she was sort of regretting their existence because it required so much picking them up and lifting them and moving them over to people.

"Hey, Steven," she said, giving him a tired smile as she came over. "The usual?"

Stark had managed to avoid being bitten by any gremlins during the so-called fashion show earlier. Maybe they didn't think Baniks were tasty?

He was still in a good mood from yesterday since there had been no major disaster today and now he was seeing his favorite person bartender.

"Hello, Summer." The smile he was giving her quickly morphed into an expression of concern after he watched her for a moment. "Are you ok?"

"Hello, Stark," Summer gave him a faint smile back, because, while her body clearly didn't agree and maybe some questionable choices were made yesterday, she definitely couldn't say she regretted any of it. "I'm fine. I just....sometimes forget that sometimes, Gladio's workouts are the kind that sneak up on you the next day..."

And therefor lure you into a false sense of security about how much other physical activity to pursue immediately after...

Summer met that with a confused look at first, blinked, and then figured she found the thread.

"I'm not avoiding you," she clarified. "I'm avoiding your Shenanigans."

She could elaborate more, but, considering the delicate nature of this avoidance, she wasn't about to give up anything more than necessary.
