Turtle & Canary; Friday [06/09].
The rubber chickens had been a mistake.
In his defense, it did seem like it would be a cute idea at the time. When you were determined to make your daughter a chocobo fan in a world without actual chocobos, you took what you could get, and Prompto had figured the chickens from Wednesday were chocobo-like enough and the squeaking noise they made would engage in Noctra's budding fascination for things that made sounds, especially when she herself interacted with them. He thought it would be just a novelty, something to grab her attention for a little bit before something else bright and shiny pulled it away.
Oh, boy, he could not have been more wrong. She had refused to go anywhere near sleep last night unless she was still clinging to that chicken with a death grip, which meant the entire night was filled with constant squeaking from that godsdamned chicken and Prompto had....regrets.
But it was fine! Live and learn! He had to figure out a way for Mr. Chicken to meet a terrible and mysterious end that thankfully Noctra was too young to really be able to process but hopefully wouldn't cause any deeper subconscious scars, and he had to remind himself that what lay ahead for the rest of the chickens he'd gotten was going to make a couple squeak-filled sleepless nights totally worth it.
It did not help, though, that, for some reason, Apu had decided he was going to be talking only in a weird quacking voice today.

And it's QUIET over here.
Not to rub it in, or anything, honest!

That actually sounds a lot more peaceful than listening to the chicken, she still hasn’t go of it! Why is Apu sounding like a duck? there was a pause I’m just glad that Rain hasn’t t decided she wants the toy as well, I don’t want to imagine the chaos that would cause!

Prompto almost wished he hadn't texted anything. It felt like signing a death warrant. But they only had to last until Tuesday...
i am so sorry. I swear it sounded like a great idea at the time!

I mean it was a cute idea and Noctra’s definitely happy, even though I think we should definitely make sure her next toy is one that doesn’t involve so much squeaking 😁
