Common courtesy told Prompto that he should probably mention to Apu that he was leaving early; he had a birthday cake to make for tonight, and, since it was a surprise, he was going to be using Ignis and Gladio's place to cook it (hopefully with minimal Ignis-nitpicking, but only time will tell!), and he really didn't want to try to squeeze all of that in between the small amount of time he'd have between the end of his workday and the time for their reservation.

(Yes, a reservation was probably not even required, but it helped make things feel very fancy and posh and it would ensure that everything he'd planned with the staff was done on time, too).

But also, Apu was always kind of a jerk to him, so you know what? He was just going to head out, he didn't owe that guy an explanation! He'd already cleared it with Summer, anyway, so Apu could just deal and keep drinking all that water and pushing expensive reusable water bottles on people for National Hydration Day.

So there.
