Caritas; Wednesday [07/19].

When Summer came into Caritas that evening, Tino was leaning over the bar with a book of poems that he was reading through and the zombies seemed to be having a light, good-natured argument about whether or not song writers counted as poets and which ones were the best. She assumed. They were zombies, they didn't usually form a lot of coherent sentences.

She wasn't entirely sure what had made everyone feel apparently so poetic this evening, but honestly? It made for a really chill vibe when she came in, and she was all about that.

Until Tino decided to share with her some of the poems, and she realized that, despite the fancy leatherbound cover on the book in his hands, it was not, in fact, filled with some nice classical poetry through the ages or some of the heavy hitters, like your Shakespeare sonnets or your Tennyson or Eliot or Shelley.

Nope. They were all just corny, cheesy, often crass and raunchy limericks. Why was she not surprised?

Could be worse, though.

He could have been reading Shunsui's book.

Where Summer is wondering if she could make a case that terrible limericks are a form of mental assault and therefor should qualify to kick off the sanctuary spell and send Tino to the pond.

It had definitely been a while since Cutter had been at the bar but after finding out that he and Connor had been cleared to return to field work, he thought they could go and after a few drinks in celebration and he had made arrangements to meet Connor at the bar that evening.

He was at least pretty sure he wasn’t going to end up that drunk again and end up passed out in his doorway.

He hoped.

“I’ll have a scotch please,” Cutter said as he took a seat at the bar.

"Awww," said Summer, with the faint hint of a pout as she still, dutifully, went to pour Cutter the requested scotch, "no jello to go with that?"

Cutter tilted his head a bit as he considered the specials board, “well maybe one jello shot,” he decided since it had been a while since he'd had any jello shots, “what one would you recommend?”

"It's Wednesday," Summer reminded him, "you've got to have at least one jello shot. Although it's been long enough since you've stopped in that I could forgive you if you forgot. But the strawberry shortcake one is probably my favorite, though pecan pie one is pretty nice, too, and would compliment the scotch nicely."

"Well I might go with those two, since it's been a while since I've been here," Cutter decided, "even though I should probably try and pace myself this time ... last time I was here, it didn't really end that well," he admitted rather sheepishly.

"I feel like most times you go anywhere," Summer pointed out, "they don't really end all that well for you, Cutter. But, yeah, pacing yourself's a good idea, maybe just start with the pecan and we'll see how you feel after you make it through that scotch."

Yeah no let's not do a repeat of the pass-out drunk stuff. Lester probably wouldn't like to get a report about that sort of thing, considering they were just getting back to returning to the ARC.

"Hey you" Connor said with a grin as he slipped into the seat beside Cutter. "This seat taken?"

That was definitely one way to ensure that Lester would consider having second doubts about giving them clearance to return to the field.

"Hi," Cutter returned that grin, "you made it," he knew that things were getting much better between them but until he'd seen Connor approach him, he was going to be afraid that Connor would change his mind about spending the evening with him.

"No one's sitting there," he assured him, "I can't believe we got cleared to return to the field,"

That was fair, considering how things had gone...and Connor was gonna have some work on his end to make up for things as well. But they were there and they were making progress. That was what mattered.

"Course I made it. Miss our Wednesday night hangouts" he said as he took a seat. "And I am still kinda pinching myself trying to believe it is real and we are going back to the team officially."

"I've missed this too," Cutter smiled at Connor, "Maybe I could try coming here and make this a bit more regular, so we can hang out more. It's been ... a while since I was last here," he grimaced a little at the last memory that he had of being here. "I know," he added at the last part, "I still feel like this is a dream or someone's playing a very cruel prank on us ... if I knew James didn't have a sense of humour, I would have thought he'd be pulling our leg but it's real and we get to go to our first meeting this weekend,"

It had been an interesting week to say the least and Connor felt he had earned himself a little treat at the bar.

"Hey Summer, hows it been?" Can I get a Gin and Tonic please?"

Summer was just going to meet that drink order with a shake of her head, though she happily went about putting it together for him. "You two," she said, with a lift of her chin toward Cutter and his scotch, "are killing my self-esteem by not even glancing at the specials board this week, apparently."

"Awww I was gonna get one before the night was over" Connor said with an apologetic nod. "Just... trying to pace myself a bit better. Jelly shots are too good to just stop at one usually."

Summer just sort of looked at Connor for a good, long moment, before giving him a small, approving nod. "Okay," she said, 'that was actually an amazing save, you get points for that one, and when you're ready, just let me know, but also know that if you leave here tonight without getting one, I will remember that."

For now, though, a very lovely gin and tonic with a little extra flourish put into adding the slice of lime because, let's be real, she did actually really love it when people ordered cocktails, even easy-peasy ones like a good old G&T.

"How've you been, though, Connor? Good week for you so far?"

Connor smiled and gave Summer an appreciative nod as he took the G&T and took a quick drink. "It's been a busy one... but good. Cutter and I have both just been cleared to return to work with the team back home. Just got the official word the other day... so we decided to come to celebrate with some drinks."

No staring at the bartop today. Just an easy, small smile as Stark sat at his usual spot at the bar.

"Tiny pie, please."

How did she know? Summer pretty much had the pie shot at Stark's spot even before he himself sat down, and she went ahead to take the liberty to add a strawberry shortcake one, as well.

"Pretty good," Summer answered, with a bit of a faint smile. "Nothing much to really complain about," at the moment, anyway; give her two minutes, and she could probably come up with something, "so that's always a good thing. How were the shenanigans today?"
