Summer knew she was in for a fun time when her evening at the bar was getting started with Tino trying to bait her into getting into online discourse.

“That is pretty good,” Watts agreed with a nod.

"And it's good it's something he doesn't mind doing," Steven said. "It's not a purpose yet but it's not a chore either."

This might be the closest Steven would get to acknowledging that perhaps he should not force Marc into things.

“He’ll get there,” Watts said, reaching over to squeeze Steven’s hand.

Steven squeezed back, grateful for Llewellyn's support. "It's only been just over a year. In a way he's come far. He's had a whole life of keeping most people at a distance. I mean even me, which shows how bad it was. Good to not forget the positives, I think."

Steven was reminding himself of that more than anything.

"Precisely," Watts nodded. "Small steps are still steps."

"Plus it's good him going to the pub on Tuesdays when you and I aren't busy," Steven said. "Since he'll not be able to go on Thursdays once Annie's on leave."

"Oh, that's right," Watts sighed. "Suppose I'll have to find something to do with my Thursday evenings then too."

Perhaps Steven had an idea or two?

Steven bumped their shoulders together. "I bet you could find someone who wouldn't mind spending time with you."

So yes, yes he did.

“Do you think Raphael is busy?” Watts wondered, trying very hard to keep a stoic expression on his face.

Steven had a hard time matching that stoic expression given that he thought Llewellyn's joke was very charming. "Well he does have his book club."

“Well, I wouldn’t want to take away from his book club time,” Watts said. “Perhaps a kind neighbour might take pity on me, then.”

"One who is fond of you?" Steven asked. "Because I might know someone who is."

“Oh?” Watts said. “Good news for me and my Thursday evenings, I suppose. Assuming you’ll put in a good word for me.”

"I've it on good authority you won't need it," Steven said. "Your reputation proceeds you."

"That's never been good news before," Watts pointed out.

"This person sees you as you are," Steven said. "Which is wonderful."

“And I am very glad you do,” Watts said, either unable or unwilling to keep up the pretense of this mysterious other person.

"I do," Steven said, happy to confirm this was only being silly by pretending. "You're not an 'in spite of' either, Llewellyn Watts."

“I do try my best to remember so, Steven Grant,” Watts replied.

"I'll be happy to remind you," Steven said. He rubbed Llewellyn's arm. "You're not settling. You're the prize."
