The Devil's Nest, Friday Night

"How hard can it be to park a bloody boat?" Lucifer said, for the fifth time tonight. "Six hours! Just to get off, walk to Taste of Thai, get back on, and leave again. Who does that?"

Tiny made vaguely understanding noises. He was busy building a small boat out of toothpicks and olives, so he didn't really care.

"Oh, doesn't it?" Lucifer said, a laugh in his voice.

"Okay, maybe it does." See, that thing about not arguing was coming back to her again. Although she pointed at his phone again. "But I think some of this leather is shinier than anything I have."

"Is that good or bad?" Lucifer asked.

"It's just an observation."

Was there something quietly impish about the way she said so? Maybe a little, yeah.

"Yes, but in what direction are we observing?" Lucifer asked. "Give me a hint."

"I might like some of the shinier things," Octavia relented.

Blame the raccoon in her.

"Mm," Lucifer mused. "Good excuse for another shopping trip."

"Sometime soon?"

[my_own_advocate]

"You say the word, and we'll go," Lucifer said. "... Well, after tonight."

A snort. "Yeah, I wasn't going to insist we go in the middle of the night."
