Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [08/30].
Shunsui fell into his usual slouch behind the counter at Turtle & Canary with a contented sigh, looking rather pleased with himself, although, really, he hadn't personally done anything to orchestrate the good luck that had finally flowed his way. And didn't that make it even better, to have something fall into place so perfectly without barely even doing anything to have earned it? But he'd submitted a class for the semester and it turned out that no one had signed up for it, and what was a class without students? A class he didn't have to actually teach, but that was information he could delicately keep to himself, and his lieutenant and Captain Commander would be none the wiser, and he could just go flitting about the mortal world some more under his teaching pretense without any additional work...
Perfection. Absolute perfect--
But then his Soul Phone began to ring.
"Moshi moshiiii~," he answered, too wrapped up in the bliss of his current circumstances to have even noticed the contact information, but as soon as the person on the other line started in on him, Shunsui blinked and sat up, hand to his hat as if to keep it from tumbling off with the force of his movements.
"Ahhhh, Nanao-chan~ ♥," he said, chuckling a little bit as the pit of worry started to form in his stomach and the rest of what followed, him barely getting in a word or argument edgewise, as he realized his grave mistake.
Of course she would have been in contact with the Moose.
Of course she'd have noticed the lack of attendance on the record and of course she knew already that this meant his class had been canceled. Of course she would have brought this to Yami-jii's attention and of course they would have both concluded that it was high time he stopped fucking around (paraphrasing, paraphrasing!) and got back to work.
"Demo watashi no shōsetsu!" he protested with passion, only to be asked exactly how many pages had he written of it in the past few years.
"Shikashi mise wa!" he tried, only to be told that the proper documentation had already been sent over to Smith-san to officially transfer the deeds to her name again.
"Tonikaku kanojo wa sudeni mise o keiei shite iru," Nanao-chan answered coolly, to which Shunsui could only assent to with a soft, reluctantly agreeing mewl.
Nanao-chan then informed him that he had the rest of the day to get any other affairs in order, and if she did not see him there at the Seireitei bright and early tomorrow morning, she would either send Ukitake-san to fetch him, or arrive herself to drag him there by his ponytail.
He politely requested that it be the latter, please and thank you, was promptly hung up on, and then settled back again, this time with a faint, proud grin on his face, because this did put a terrible damper in his plans for a nice, relaxing end of the year, but it was hard to be mad at getting to witness all the progress she'd made first hand like that.
Today's Squishy Flavors

[[ with apologies for the lazy google translate, and very likely Shunsui's last post on the island, until I randomly decide to bring him back again in another eight years from now, or something ]]
