Midnight Manor Boarding House, Tuesday Morning
Rosh Hashanah wasn't until sundown Friday but of course Steven wouldn't be Steven if he didn't panic and try getting stuff done in advance. So if any of the residents of the Boarding House swung by the dining room Tuesday morning they would find a display of apples, small jars of honey, and round loaves of challah. It was absolutely more than three people could consume in one sitting. Because Steven.
There was also a note which read In honor of the upcoming holiday. Free for anyone who'd like it. No obligations or those other things to worry about. AlsoLlew Detective Watts did the baking!
(Yes, complete with crossed out part. Again because Steven.)
Marc was not thinking about the time of year. He helped himself to an apple because why not? But otherwise he was focusing more on making sure things were going okay with all the things that were now his responsibility. His office turned out to be a good place for that. Nobody bugging them at home and located where he could see if there was anything that needed his attention either from the people who lived there or from anybody who came in from outside.
To that end there was a sign on the front door which read: Potential residents and visitors welcome! in one set of handwriting and then, underneath, Provided you're not an asshole trying to cause trouble in another.
No prize for guessing which sentence had handwriting which matched the note on the dining room table with the food and which one might match Marc's handwriting.
That taken care of Marc sat in his office, ate his apple, and tried to make heads or tails of the list of furniture the place still needed.
[Post, like the front door to the building, is open!]

oh so handwavelydelivered, Dwight decided to swing by and see how things were going."Knock knock?" he called out as he poked his head through the opened door before stepping in. "Non-Asshole stopping by," he added with a chuckle as he did.

After all, if the qualification stopped at merely asshole Marc would have to leave.
"How's it going?"

Normally Marc was not the guy who would remember to offer food but in this case he knew Steven would never let him hear the end of it if he didn't.

Sadly no one had specifically complimented the furniture in Marc's hearing, even if folks like Arden had actually been particularly pleased with it.
