Annie was feeling a touch bittersweet as she opened up the bar and wrote up her specials board tonight. It was a little weird -- and, if she let herself dwell, more than a little nerve-wracking -- to think how long she'd be gone from this place after tonight, and that when she returned, the (very active, thanks kids) twins currently stomping all over her internal organs would actually be little babies at home with their dad.

"Aww, Tiny, you shouldn't have!" Annie exclaimed, upon spying that he was carving two little pumpkins that, to Annie's eye, looked almost identical, but not quite. Definitely like related siblings, though, right? Like little twin pumpkins?

Right?

It would be forever a mystery whether Annie was delusional, or whether Tiny was, possibly for the first time ever, using his art to do something nice for her. (Not much of a mystery, really, when it was put like that.)

Even Marc wasn't going to miss Annie's last night.

What? Maybe he just appreciated that she knew to get him a drink without too many questions.

"Steven says hi," Marc told her when he had a chance to talk to Annie. Sure Marc himself could say hi but meh. He was there, clearly greetings were implied.

"Make sure to tell Steven I say hi back," Annie told him teasingly, a cocktail napkin already snagged as she made her way over. "How's it going, Marc?"

Funnily enough, she kind of figured that if she saw either of them once she was home with these kids, it was not going to be Marc. (Or, well, if he -- and not Steven -- came by with a casserole and diapers, she would be really fucking surprised.)

See? Annie understood. This was a thing to appreciate about people.

"Doing all right," Marc said. "Weekend went okay. You?"

Was she doing okay? Had her weekend gone all right? Dealer's choice, really.

"I had a nice visit with Kimiko, learned a little sign language, caught up with a guy I know from your universe a little bit," Annie shared, nodding as she snagged the whiskey. "And now that that's over, I'm like...so ready to be at home with some distracting TV. I mean, after tonight. This is fine."

Spoken like a woman who really did like her job, but was also carrying two babies and was pretty over it at this point.

"Catching up with a guy from my universe right now," Marc pointed out, because he was hilarious. "Diego taking off too?"

"I think so," Annie replied, frowning. "I'm not sure if he's actually told Llewellyn, but they probably don't expect him in much anyway, I'd think. It's not like we have crime, anyway."

Once a complaint from Annie, now a real perk of living here.

Marc shrugged. Even if Diego had told Watts it's not like Marc would know.

"At least he'll be around to help," Marc said. "Let you rest while you can."

"Honestly, he's probably more prepared for these two than I am," Annie confided. "Like, I kind of need to be the point person for the birth part," probably, "but Diego's already like, Ultra-Super Dad."

And Ultra-Super Husband, too; Annie held no illusions that she'd be lifting a single unnecessary finger during this bedrest, or after the kids were born. (Though she also appreciated very much that this wasn't, like, some kind of 'pregnant women are helpless!' directive from her husband so much as, like, just the support she needed right now.)

"You should grow a beard or something while I'm gone," she suggested, lifting a brow as she set Marc's whiskey before him. "Ooh, or a mustache."

Marc lifted his drink and then surprisingly found himself in need of a hard swallow of it at Annie's suggestion.

"Not a mustache," he said. No clue why he felt so strongly about that. "Beard maybe."

Could Marc pull off a beard with his face? The multiverse said yes.

Hell, he could pull off a big beard, even.

"Okay, so now I have to know," Annie decided, leaning against the bar. "That has to be a joint decision, right? You can't have different facial hair that just like...goes away when Steven's around?"

But was anyone ready for Zaddy Marc?

"It would, yeah," Marc said. "Plus I've got no idea how comfortable that'd be under the mask."

And then, because this was of course a completely ridiculous suggestion and not something that ever came true anywhere, "Unless it was fake facial hair or something."

But who'd carry around something like a fake mustache just for that? Not Marc or Steven, that was for sure.
