Summer was really starting to get a weird vibe about the changes that seemed to have sprung up around the island since getting back from the trip. Granted, those changes did not prevent her from sucking down an actual Starbucks PSL right now, with a Pink Drink on deck, and maybe that was why Apu thought he could get away with it, but he kept trying to shove pair of Crocs on her, and she was absolutely refusing.
"Gross," she said. "I would literally rather die."
And, in fact, just in an attempt to get them out of her store faster, she popped a sign up in the window that promised a free pair of Crocs with every purchase, and went back to squinting out onto the street and trying to fight back some major flashbacks of that one time she was stuck working in an Amazon warehouse that she still hoped was kind of a fever dream, but....something about this was definitely bringing that all back up again, and it did not feel great.
