Vi wasn't really in the habit of watching videos on her phone at work, not least because even after nearly two (two) years there was still something kind of magical about videos and phones, but a couple of sets of the really expensive stone dice had arrived, and she she'd gotten curious and well...

One link led to another and she she found herself watching a bunch of oddly hypnotising videos.

Don't mind Steph trying to sneak up behind her and lean against her to peer at the phone.

"Whatcha watching?"

Look, she knew Vi wasn't that inclined toward using her phone that way, so she had to be curious.

Vi tilted her phone so Steph could see the screen too. "Some guy making dice," she said, unaware how many channels that vague description could apply to.

"There's like a million of those," Steph said mildly, wrapping an arm around Vi. She made a noise of recognition a moment or two later. "Ohhhhhhh, that guy! Yeah. Aren't those wild?"

Vi leaned back into the contact. "Yeah," she said. "The way the rock looks completely different by the time he's done with it."

"It's so cool," Steph agreed. "I kind of want to show that to someone next time they ask why the stone and gem dice are so expensive. Hell, even the handmade resin ones."

She idly nuzzled at Vi's arm.

"What kind of stone would you want to use, if you could get one of these made and if you could pick anything?"

"But would it really shut that kind of person up?" Vi asked, reaching for Steph's hand to curl their fingers together.

"Probably rock from the Sump," she said quietly after thinking it over. "It wouldn't be as impressive as these, but it'd mean something."

"In a hobby full of nerds who get very passionate about their in-depth and very specific interests?" Steph slid her fingers through Vi's and squeezed her hand. "Some of them, probably, yeah. Definitely not all of them, but it might sway a few."

She rested her chin against Vi's shoulder.

"I don't know how I'd manage to get a hold of some of that for you," she said a little sadly.

"And we can alwaya raise prices for the ones who don't appreciate it," Vi said.

She turned her head enough to kiss Steph's cheek. "It means a lot that you'd want to."

"I mean, yeah, I'd want to," Steph said softly, leaning into her. "You deserve so many good things, way more than I'm actually capable of giving you."

"I don't need all that," said Vi, who'd wanted to burn the world down so Powder could have the good things she derseved. "So long as I've got you."

"Well, that you definitely do," Steph conceded. "And okay, maybe you don't need all of that, but I think you should get to have some treats. Not just necessities. What can I say? Pampering you is a hobby of mine."

Vi grinned at her. "Oh, in that case I wouldn't want to interfere with one of your hobbies."

"I love that you get me," Steph said cheerfully. "And speaking of pampering you, what do you want for dinner? I was thinking of taking you out for a nice meal, zero cleanup work involved."

"And I love that you feed me," Vi teased. "I'm thinking dumplings?"

"That sounds amazing," Steph decided, stretching up to kiss her on the cheek. "I could go for some cheesecake afterward, too, if you're down."

"I am always down for cheesecake," Vi said with a grin. "It's not bad for dessert either."

"I fucking knew you were going to say that," Steph said smugly. "In fact, I maybe set you up for that exact line on purpose."

Okay, not really, but she realized it right after the words had come out of her mouth.

"Oh course you did," Vi said, smirking.

"You're predictable in the best ways sometimes," Steph said, reaching out to try and tickle her just below the ribs.

"Lies," Vi protested, squirming (but not away).

"They are not and you damn well know it," Steph retorted, doubling down on her tickling efforts. "What do I have to do to get you to admit it?"

"Do your worst," Vi replied, fixing Steph with a not particularly heated glare. "I'll never give in."

"You're so cute when you're being a hardass," Steph informed her unrepentantly, leaning in to kiss her cheek again. "I'm literally swooning right now."

"You swooning doesn't make for a very impressive interrogation," Vi said dryly, leaning in closer against Steph.

[drumsticksandd20s]

"Bold of you to assume I'd be better at interrogating you than seducing the truth out of you," Steph said without missing a beat, and slid her arms around Vi's waist. "Oh. Oh no. I've accidentally let you in on my plan."
