Gladio was, of course, doing his usual rounds throughout the gym that day and taking care of a few gym-business related things, but he was a bit distracted, and spending maybe a little more time out on the floor scrolling through his phone or in the office at his computer. He had a little bit of research and some planning to do, and maybe a few calls to Portalocity, which was always an interesting experience, what with how he'd been with them back when he first wound up back here.

And with that thought, he now added some research on some good apology gift baskets that gnomes in the interdimensional travel business in particular might enjoy.

And with that thought, he found himself getting very distracted with the fact that Cup Noodle^TM gift baskets were a thing...

Summer really didn't know where the urge came from when it hit, but sometimes, she just wanted to rock out something with turquoise, and that was exactly what she was strolling into to the gym wearing that day, with a little pleased flip of her ponytail and a finger-waggling wave toward Gladio who gave her a customary lift of his chin in greeting since he seemed a little busy on the phone at the moment she strode in. Her energy that day had her drifting over toward the stair-climber machines after her warm-up, though she couldn't explain why that seemed a good fit for today, but then there she was.

Stark had no interest in breaking his gym streak. Stark also had an interest in seeing what Summer might be wearing on any given gym day (or any non-gym day, let's be honest here).

But of course he was going to greet Gladio before even thinking of looking respectfully at someone in turquoise.

"Morning, Gladio. Going all right so far?"

"Morning, Stark," said Gladio, with a nod and maybe even a small bit of impressed approval over even the slightest delay in the usual wandering respectful glances. "So far, so good. How're things with you?"

Stark tried his best, Gladio. He really did.

"It's been a quiet few days," he said. "But things are good. I don't mind quiet sometimes."

The effort did not go unnoticed! Gladio was proud of ya,bud.

"Insert standard 'especially around here' here," he noted with a snort. "But that's good to hear, a little peace and quiet's good for a person every once in a while."

Stark would be so pleased if he knew someone was proud of him!

"I worry when it gets too quiet," Stark said, glancing around. "But it's good having less to worry about."

Nell came in with a lightness to her step. She'd just had the best three days and was anticipating even more good days to come. "Morning, Gladio. Cardio today, I think!"

"Morning, Nell," Gladio greeted back with a nod, but the smile that accompanied it separated it pretty notably from just his typical way of welcoming most of his regular patrons. "Seems to be a good day for that today."

She liked - no, she loved that he had a special smile just for her. It just made her feel all warm and happy inside. "It is," she agreed. "I just feel like getting everything really moving today."

Nell had a smile that was just for him as well, whether either of them really was aware of it or not.

See, here Gladio had just gotten so used to seeing that smile on Nell's face that he'd just sort of figured it was just the default these days...

...not that he wouldn't deny he probably had a lot to do with with setting, though.

"Put that energy to good use, right?" he grinned, then gave her a nod. "Any of those machines give you any trouble, you let me know. Can't go around tolerating that kind of behavior in my gym."

"You'll threaten them into submission," Nell said with a grin. "I'll let you know and then stand back and watch."

"See," said Gladio, chuckling, "now I almost want it to happen, just so I can give you a bit of a show..."

"I kind of do too," Nell admitted. "I rather like watching you fight."

She did. She really did.

"Howzit, Gladio," Steve said, ambling into the gym. "It's getting cold out there!"

Well. If you were from Hawai'i.

"Eh." Most of Lucis was a hot, dry climate, but cold never bothered him much, so Gladio shrugged. "Only gonna get worse before it gets better, though. You got yourself a good warm jacket?"

Pretty rich, coming from Mr. Allergic to Shirts Even in Winter over here...

Steve nodded. "A big puffy one that Danny says makes me look like a marshmallow. But that's only because he's jealous."

And because he was definitely marshmallow-adjacent in this coat.

"What?" asked Gladio. "Now that you're gettin' hitched, you're not gonna go out and get matching puffy marshmallow jackets?"

Steve burst out laughing. "We'd look amazing."

Definitely not true.

"Wedding present idea?" Gladio theatened threatened, with a grin.
