Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

The woodchucks seemed to be gone today. The problem was that it didn't matter how many weeks they might be normal, Rey didn't trust it. She'd settled in for some meditation, only to find herself wondering where the woodchucks were and what they were up to and whether she should worry. Also whether she'd have something thrown at her. Totally normal concerns like that.

But it at least looked like meditating.

Anakin stalked in with a pair of noise-cancelling headphones over his ears and his comm screaming out Carol of the Bells.

"I hate December."

"It's been okay so far in here," she told him, cracking an eye open.

[sith_happened]

"I don't trust it," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"You probably shouldn't," she agreed. "Happy December."

[sith_happened]

Anakin grunted. "I hate December."

[thatwaslucky]

"Some of the days are okay," Rey told him. "And some will get worse."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "Like the Santa hat day."

[thatwaslucky]

"Or mistletoe. But I knew you'd go for the Santa hat," she admitted.

[sith_happened]

"It messes up my hair," Anakin complained.

[thatwaslucky]

"If it helps, no one can tell. Because of the hat," she said.

[sith_happened]

"I can tell," Anakin muttered.

[thatwaslucky]

"At least everyone has bad hair then?" Rey was trying to help here.

[sith_happened]

"Well, maybe, yes," Anakin agreed.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's uncomfortable with my hair all the time."

Well yeah, that happened with that hairstyle.

"It is a little bumpy," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"It just hits right in the middle," she frowned, touching the back of her head.

[sith_happened]

"So does it go up into the hat or just stick down behind it?" Anakin asked. "The Padawan ponytail was dumb there, too."

[thatwaslucky]

"It kind of sticks out in it," she said. "And it's not dumb."

It was a trauma hairstyle.

"Oh, my hair was dumb, not yours."

[thatwaslucky]

"Oh," she said. "I didn't think it was terrible..."

She wasn't planning on reinstating it, though.

"It was pretty...distinctive," Anakin allowed.

[thatwaslucky]

"Was there a purpose besides identification?" she wondered.

[sith_happened]

"I think it enforces humility and no attachments," Anakin said dryly.

[thatwaslucky]

"No attachments might be going a little far..." The humility, though.

[sith_happened]

"Try to get a date with that hair," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"I thought you weren't supposed to be doing that anyway," she said.

[sith_happened]

"The hair definitely helps you from being tempted."

[thatwaslucky]

"I honestly should have expected that answer, she said.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "Well, probably."

[thatwaslucky]

"Well, to bring it back, keep in mind that every thing that happens this month will only last a day," she told him.

[sith_happened]

"But the trauma of carol-singing gremlins lasts weeks," Anakin teased.

[thatwaslucky]

"I like those, actually," she admitted.

[sith_happened]

"Well, you're a soft touch with the gremlins," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"They live here just like the rest of us," she reasoned.

[sith_happened]

"But other people don't bite me and make me think I'm a pop star for an hour," Anakin countered.

[thatwaslucky]

Yet.

"They did that to me too and I don't hold it against them."

[sith_happened]

"That's because you're a better person than I am."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm not," she said.

[sith_happened]

"I'm pretty confident in my first answer," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

She made a face at him, because she really believed herself on that. "You could always try just getting to know them. They work at the Starbucks at my work."

[sith_happened]

"You have a Starbucks at your work?"

Anakin had missed out!

[thatwaslucky]

"Yes! It's staffed by gremlins. But they do great work!" Rey said.

[sith_happened]

Anakin blinked. "...of course it is," he said slowly.

[thatwaslucky]

"I lost my assistant to it, but he seems really happy so it's all right," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Well, I'm a fan of whatever keeps them happy," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm sure Rory would think you're very brave bringing her some," she teased.

[sith_happened]

"I'm half convinced I'll show up and find my wife has a part-time job alongside the gremlins," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"If so, she and I don't work the same days."

What, it was possible!

Anakin blinked. "Now I'm really going to have to check," he admitted.
