After a fair amount of cursing back on his boat, Duke decided that screw this island, he was going to go into work today, pony or not.
Look. Sometimes spite was more powerful than depression, okay?
"Wait," he said, as he trotted into the diner. "Why aren't any of you ponies?"
His -- human -- staff blinked at him.
"Are you really sure that's the question to be asking here, boss?" Ali asked.
Duke face-. . . hoofed and groaned.
"I hate everything."

Lucifer got a (gentle and careful with that horn) headbutt in return.

He had a quick and deft hand with it.
"Here you are."
He held the apple out.

Duke still wasn't entirely sure how to do this. He delicately took the apple in his teeth, horse-y lips grabbing onto it, too. Then kind of tossed it into the air and caught it in his mouth so he could crunch it into mush.

He nodded towards a napkin dispenser on the lunch counter, then startled HARD when his horn glowed faintly silver and a handful of napkins pulled free and came wafting towards them.

He snagged the napkins from the air and - sigh - leaned over to wipe Duke's beard.
"We aren't speaking of this again."

It was hard to tell which was harder: waking up to discover a horse in your bed or waking up to discover you were the horse in your bed.
