Caritas; Wednesday [03/06].

Summer was always just a little worried, after coming back from a school trip, about what kind of Tino she would be getting on Wednesday, but if anyone was worried that the kind of Tino would be a normal and not terrible one, they could rest assured that he was just as weird and awful as ever.

But this time, it was in a way that Summer almost respected, because it was clearly tapping from her wheelhouse. And she wasn't going to admit that she found it fascinating and intriguing, but there was a part of her that felt...well...almost a little proud?

Because today, Tino was putting sausages on the ends of various bottles of whiskey and proudly showing her how they could now function as jiggers, so if you poured a shot, you poured it through the sausage to infuse said whiskey with a nice hint of sausage.

Don't get her wrong; it was terrible. But it was the kind of terrible that she almost wish she'd have thought of it herself.

You know what to do! Get up there and sing something, dammit!

Hopefully, you're not too put off by the smell of sausages!

But, if you are, there's always the lounge. Tino's sausage-inspo hasn't spread out to the tables yet, thankfully.

Don't confuse the sausages for darts. Or, actually, do, that would be funny to watch.

This post is inspired by an actual conversation I had in real life.

Yes, the sausage jiggers were my idea in this conversation.

"Sausages?" Stark asked. He wasn't asking Tino. He knew better.

"Hello, Summer." He smiled softly as he slid onto his usual stool at the bar. "You made the guacamole."

He hadn't doubted, really.

You know what, strictly speaking, Atton had already gotten his fill of karaoke in class today. Buuuut...

Well, Caritas had a different audience, right?

Atton cleared his throat. "Let's cheer it up a little today," he said. The upside of having an actual band for karaoke here? Adjusting songs for a lower pitch. "Sometimes I wonder if I should be medicated
If I would feel better just slightly sedated

I'm on fire, but I'm trying not to show it

"I never thought I'd think of the island as luxury accomodations, but after last week, I'm beginning to feel it," Atton commented, sitting down.

"Sausages," Summer confirmed, with a shake of her head and a disparaging look toward Tino like she, with what she was going to say next, had any room to talk.

"And," she announced, now preening oh-so-proudly of herself as she took a bowl of tortilla chips and set it in front of Stark, "I even brought chips if anyone wanted the full guacamole jello shot experience, too!"

Weren't you just so excited, Stark??

"I told you so!" Summer had been itching to almost track Atton down in the park herself, but the timing just never worked out, so she was pleased as hell he was opening with that to give her the opportunity now. "But, yeah, no, I'm pretty sure that's got to be the most 'glad to be back from that vacation!' this island has probably seen in a while!"

"Do the chips go onto or into the guacamole jello," Stark asked, "or does the guacamole jello go onto the chips?"

He was all-in here. He'd agreed, mostly, yesterday in class.

"Look, I just hadn't left the hotel the first time you asked, okay?" Atton groused good-naturedly. "Definite Nar Shaddaa vibes in a few places. Not all in the bad way, but still, glad to be back somewhere that has an actual health code."

Summer gave a pointed glance over to Tino, who was still fitting sausages over the tops of whiskey bottles.

"Ish," she said. "But anyway, what can I get you tonight, Atton? May I firmly not recommend anything with whiskey?"

"I was thinking," said Summer, plucking out a chip and then plucking up a guacamole shot, and holding them up, demonstrating as she explained, "the ideal way to do it would be to just plop the guac on the chip," plop was an excellent choice for what the jello shot then did, and then it wiggled a little as Summer held it out to hand to Stark, "and eat it like that, but, it's your shot, Stark, you eat it however you feel is best."

"... Yeah, I'd already made that decision for myself," Atton said, eyeing Tino suspiciously. "Uh, I'll just have another one of those fancy sodas. How was the rest of your disaster trip? Didn't see much of you after the party."

"Yeah," Summer admitted with a faint grin, "I was mostly just running around scoping everything out ~~in the most handwavey way possible~~. Checking out the rides, the shows, got a couple good terrible food ideas, and them got a buttload of souvenirs for my family, because my brother and my dad fucking love all that space shit, and it'll annoy my grampa and my space mom."

TO BE FAIR, the 'space' on that last one actually was doing something!

"But I had fun with it. I mean, I've been to worse shitholes, and some of it was actually kind of fun. What'd you end up doing with the rest of your time?"

"They had a tavern that was kind of nice," Atton said, after a short moment where he pondered how much he wanted to give away and promptly landed in an argument with the therapist voice in his head yelling at him about how he had to stop overthinking what he did and didn't tell people. "Reminded me of some of the better holes in the wall on Nar Shaddaa. And if you poked around, some of the acts were actually kind of interesting? Storytellers, that kind of thing." Beat. "You know. Just hanging out."

That beat, in particular, seemed to quirk Summer's smirk a little. "I was mostly just looking for cool shots for my Insta, really," she admitted. "So I didn't really catch much of the acts unless they had, you know, a good visual element to them, too. Did you happen to catch any you really liked? I mean, you know, from the perspective of a fellow performer..."

". . . Well, sausage is ruined for me forever," Travis said as he sat down.

Atton snorted. "The music was awful," he said. "I mean, well-performed, but definitely not my style."

Not enough screaming guitars.

"But I don't know, there's something about someone from somewhere you've never been, telling a story well, you know? It's like a look inside the brain of an entirely different planet."

"Ohgod," said Summer, "there is a joke I want to make in response to that so badly, but I am choosing to not be terrible. You're welcome."

Then she gave him a smile. "Hey, Travis. Good to have visual confirmation that you're still alive. What can I get for you?"

"Your kindness is appreciated," Travis said with a chuckle. "What's the Lion and the Lamb?"

"Hey Stark. I was hoping I'd find you here."

He'd known he'd find him here. Stark was very predictable.

"I think not eating it would be best," Stark admitted, but he was grinning. "But I'll take your recommendation."

In fact he was going to lean forward to attempt to bite the chip in Summer's hand.

Something something eating out of the palm of her hand, right?

But you know what? That definitely worked, and so Summer was going to just let Stark do his thing and get ready to fully appreciate the verdict and whether or not Stark would still feel that guacamole jello was still the lesser of two evils when put up against guacamole cupcakes.
