The Junkyard, Monday Morning
Cal had fallen into a pretty solid daily routine that thankfully hadn't been interrupted by any children, but he decided to take a small detour today to check out the junkyard. As much as he wanted to look at the ships, he kept a respectful distance and admired them from afar as he looked over all the scattered piles of bits and parts.
He crouched down to let BD-1 hop down and take a look. "Do you think if we cleaned this place up a little, anyone would mind if we took something useful?"
"We can say sorry later!" BD-1 replied, already running towards a pile of scrap.
Cal laughed and settled down nearby, multi-tool at the ready. "Sounds like a plan to me."

They did not, so he was back to square one.
Which was why Tony was sighing heavily and just waving in the direction of the other person there as he recalculated.

It was an automatic question, he didn't know if he could actually help, but he'd try!

"Not unless you want to trade scrap metal for roses," Tony admitted ruefully. "Are you... in charge of this place now? Or just working?"

Oh yeah, that was gonna translate real well to Cal, wasn't it?

BD-1 emerged from one of the piles, shaking some scrap off his head, to beep in agreement, mostly that Cal had no clue what he was doing with Arden.

And, that one expression of delight some people got when seeing a dog out in public? That was Tony with BD-1. Because of course it was. "Oh, hello there."
no subject
"That's BD-1, and I'm Cal," he said, with the tone of someone who knew perfectly well he was the less interesting one. "He's helping me look for anything interesting here."
no subject
But hey, that was an idea! One that probably only appealed to Tony.

"Anything that might give BD some more upgrades. I've installed most of his extras myself, but it's all tech from my world, so I figured I'd poke around and see if there was any junk here that's not really junk, you know?"

Sorry Tony, your billboards hadn't made it to Coruscant yet.

"I do," he replied, only at a loss for a moment because, well, it was always a little funny to not be recognized after his life was spent being so well known. "More tech from this planet, really. But I'm always happy to learn more. My bots, for example, are much more rudimentary than the ones from where you're from."
Meaning they didn't commit any war crimes. Chopper.

"I'm always happy to meet more bots too. I've been really curious about the tech here."
BD made an annoyed noise as he glanced up at Cal.
"You'll always be my favorite, don't worry. But maybe we can find you some friends too."
That got a much better noise out of the droid.

"They're very friendly," Tony promised. "Just a little... well, they try. The number of times they've tried to feed me motor oil is probably worrying."
JARVIS did his best with the babysitting. But sometimes Tony needed to learn not to blindly accept drinks in the lab.
