Did you know there was a catalogue that sold only costumes for your Home Depot skeleton? Wanda didn't know either until one appeared at the shop's doorstep when she came in today.

She was definitely about to spend way too much money.

Another magic shop? Of course Gale was stopping in to peruse the wares!

"Hello there," he said, having recovered from his class early in the day. The trauma of slime as a recipe ingredient would haunt him, though.

He remained in the doorway, holding the door open politely so that Tara could trot on in next.

"Hell...o." The greeting trailed off when Wanda spotted the cat. Bird. Thing. "That might be the cutest animal I've ever seen."

Tara shamelessly preened at that, shooting Gale a smug look.

"Yes, yes. We all know you're the greatest," Gale said with exasperation. "This is Tara. She's a bit... picky about speaking with people. My apologies."

Well. Cat. Kind of. They did what they did.

"Oh, I totally get it, I'm a bit of an introvert too," Wanda said with a wave of her hand. Like she totally knew about talking cats this whole time.

(She had met Strange's cloak, so that would get you used to that sort of thing).

"You must be new in town," she said. "I'm Wanda."

"Gale of Waterdeep," he said, offering a handshake. He'd somehow learn to drop that 'of Waterdeep' shit after a while, but he was still fresh and new! Like a small, baby child. "I am indeed! Exoring the town, in as much as one can with a town as small as this."

Well, Wanda was loving the enthusiasm and happily shook Gale's hand. "Nice to meet you, Gale. What brings you to our tiny island?"

"I have come as an instructor at the school," he replied. "I will be teaching the weave... ah, magic as it is more commonly called here. Hence my interest in your fine establishment."

Tara? Already breadloafing in a sunbeam in the shop.

And it was the most adorable loaf ever.

"Oh, I think I signed up for that one!" Wanda said. "I'm looking forward to being there on Friday."

"And I will look forward to seeing you," Gale replied with unfeigned enthusiasm. Because magic was his jam, you see. "If I may be so forward, I haven't anyone quite with the equivalent to what I am accustomed to in magical talent."

Though Liliana was closer!

"What is your talent in that arena?"

During his lunch break, Dean took a walk through town and headed to the Magic Box. "Hey Wanda! How you've been?"

"Hey, Dean," Wanda said with a smile. "I've been good."

A little bit of a homebody (towerbody?), but good.

"How have you been?"

"Not too bad. Been busy and the whole artwork coming to life the other week was weird but got through it," Dean said with a shrug. "But I've been going back to my world to work sometimes and I need to figure out a way to hide my identity a little better just in case I run into someone I know. Do you sell any glamour spells here? Just in case I need to look like someone else for a bit?"

"You know, I think we do," she said, coming around the counter. "They're surprisingly not all that popular. You'd think people would be using them all the time."

[single_man_tear]

"Well given the entire population island looks like a coed version of America's Top Model, there's probably not a need for it," Dean joked. "And everyone here is too nice to try and hide who they are."

"That is true. Despite the weird stuff it's way less chaotic here than back home," she said. "So are you looking for just something to disguise your face, or do you want the whole shebang? I think there's stuff here that can change your whole body but I'll admit that I don't actually know how it works, or of any potential side effects."

"Well I've dealt with magical side effects before," Dean said with rueful chuckle. "As long as I don't act like I'm a dog, I'm fine with it. And I'll just go with the face. That's the only thing I care about."

"Makes sense," she said, getting up on her tippy toes to reach a couple things on a shelf. When she stepped back down she had a necklace in one hand and a bottle in the other. "So we've got a couple options -- the classic potion option or a disguising necklace."

The necklace looked a bit like costume jewelry as most magical items did, but it wasn't anything that couldn't be hidden by a shirt. The potion was an unpleasant green color.

"Downside about the necklace is that it's an illusion so if it comes off for any reason you're SOL," she said. "Downside of the potion is it kind of looks like snot in a jar."

Don felt like he should really introduce himself to his other tower mate properly (and apologize for the special effects that accompanied his presence), so when he saw the magic shop open, he swung by the bakery for an assortment of pastries he remembered his Wanda would have liked before doubling back. He paused by the door to check, "You are Wanda, right?"

"Yes, I am," Wanda greeted with a smile. "And you've brought food."

That's always a good way to earn bonus points meeting a person.

"Oh, good," Don said as he came further into the shop. "You look kind of different where I'm from. Different hair." He set the box down on the counter and offered his newly freed hand to shake. "Donald Blake. Don. I don't know if Steve or Tony had a chance to talk to you about me moving in?"

"Oh, I dye it," she said, happily shaking his hand. "Tony mentioned we'd be getting someone else in the tower. It's very nice to meet you. I hope I won't be too annoying of a roommate. Tony and Steve haven't had any complaints yet."

"It looks good," Don assured her. "Did Tony mention anything else about my, uh, situation? Oh, these are for you, obviously," he said, nudging the box of pastries closer to her. "Keep in mind I'm going off intel about a decade old from a different universe if I bought all the ones you hate."

"I mean, I think I'm speaking for every Wanda when I say there's no such thing as a bad pastry," she said, taking one. "Tony didn't really get into specifics. Though now that I'm thinking about it, he did kind of walk away with a sly look on his face."

"Yeah, that sounds like Tony," Don sighed. "Listen, I should tell you some stuff since we're going to be living in the same place, but I don't--I have reasons for not wanting my business spread all over town just yet. Is there a way to keep the gossip radio from being so...weirdly specific?" It wasn't actually squirrels, was it?

"Oh, sure. You actually got lucky; a cat-owl was in here earlier threatening to eat birds so I think that might have scared a lot of critters off," she said. "But just in case--"

She waved her hands in a vague gesture, her fingers shooting out red light for a second.

"Okay. Should be nice and soundproofed. And squirrel-proofed."
