Wednesday Morning - Streets around the Island

So yesterday Kamala's training schedule was focused on strength building. Today was cardio day.

Which meant running. Lots of running.

"Why are there so many stairs?" she groaned. "So. Many. Stairs."

Technically it was more of a slow jog/fast walk at this point.

Watts usually left his own jogging until the afternoon, but- well, sleeping in today didn't hold its usual appeal, and so up early he was.

Congratulations, Kamala, on experiencing the semi-rare sight of Watts in something other than his suit.

"They are a bit tedious, aren't they," he agreed.

"Moving... sidewalks?" Watts echoed, having never heard of such a thing.

"Ah," Watts said, who barely had the context for escalator, honestly. "That might explain why I have never heard of such a thing. I have not been to many airports; in fact I only just experienced my first aeroplane ride earlier this year."

"It was," Watts confirmed. "I rather enjoyed it. We only went as far as Toronto, but the very idea of being able to cross the Atlantic in a matter of hours- truly remarkable."

Yes, he had access to portals now, but as he understood it, that was mainly via Fandom and most people did not have access to that sort of travel in their home reality.

"I'd traveled to Europe before," Watts said. "Via passenger liner. I much prefer via aeroplane. Or portal, I suppose."

"They're incredibly convenient," Watts said. "Although they don't include snacks."

Mostly because the whole process technically only took moments, aside from layovers.

"I don't- believe so?" Watts said. Though that may vary based on whatever the player thought was funniest at the time.

"'Screwing people over'," Watts echoed. "I assume this is an idiomatic expression for- causing problems?"
pocketpretzels: (listen to me)

"No, it's all right," Watts said. "You should have seen me when I first arrived two years ago. I was constantly needing definitions and clarifications. It happens far less frequently these days."
pocketpretzels: (also skeptical)

"Oh, absolutely," Watts said. "In an almost overwhelmingly positive way, of course, but a shock nonetheless."

"Oh, the food," Watts said fervently. Yes, there was the whole "homosexual activity was no longer illegal" thing but that was a bit of a heavy topic to drop on a teenager. "I find great joy in eating, and being able to sample cuisines from all over the world with such ease is truly remarkable. Not to mention having access to certain fruits and vegetables year round!" he told her.
