Rey's warehouse- Friday

Rey wrote all of her notes on the Jedi texts in a spiral notebook she got from T&C. The pages on the texts were so old she was sometimes afraid the pages would crumble into dust if she touched the
, let alone wrote in them. (Also kind of weird to write in ancient texts in ballpoint pen.)

She'd been sitting on a crate and poring over pages so long that her neck was starting to hurt, but she was busy, and her neck could wait. At some point maybe she'd actually be done researching these things. Maybe. Hopefully.

Anakin who definitely didn't forget to hit post on this how dare you insinuate such a thing walked into the warehouse on time. "Rey?"

"Over here," she said, waving him over. "Pull up a crate."

"What are you working on?" Anakin asked, pulling up a crate.

[thatwaslucky]

"Not so much working as researching," she said. "It's going to take years to get through all of these."

[sith_happened]

"That's why many of us never bothered," Anakin said airily.

[thatwaslucky]

"I don't know how many of you would be allowed to," she said. "Or able to. I'm sure someone probably translated them before?"

She was jealous of anyone who had ever finished that already.

"The Jedi librarians were very thorough," Anakin said. "They probably were."

[thatwaslucky]

"I wonder what happened with the originals then," she mused. "Luke had to go searching for them, found these in multiple places."

[sith_happened]

"Jedi probably took them as they fled the Temple," Anakin said. "Palpatine wasn't exactly a dedicated archivist."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'd be impressed if they did," she admitted. "I don't know that these would be my priority in that situation."

"What would be your priority instead?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"People." Immediate answer, no need to think about it. "If I can't stop it."

[sith_happened]

"It was me," Anakin said quietly. "Stopping it was not part of the plan. I think they were salvaging what they could."

[thatwaslucky]

"I still probably would have tried." She had a history of terrible decisions there. "But if I'm saving anything, it's people."

[sith_happened]

"When Obi-Wan returned to the Temple, he set a signal telling them to scatter," Anakin said. "Palpatine was so angry."

[thatwaslucky]

"I can imagine. I've seen the signal. There's a copy on some holocron files Kanan gave me," she said.

[sith_happened]

"I haven't watched it in decades," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"Should you ever want to..." she said. "At any rate, it worked. There seemed to be a number of Jedi who got away."

[sith_happened]

"They were the bane of my existence for a decade," Anakin said dryly.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm not going to say I'm not glad for that," she noted.

[sith_happened]

"Well, I won't either now," Anakin said. "At the time, though--"

[thatwaslucky]

Too bad, so sad.

"And in the present they've helped me out quite a bit."

Thanks to Anakin not having horribly murdered them!

"The books or the Jedi?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"Both," she said.

[sith_happened]

"In that case, I'll be glad--now--that I wasn't as efficient at my job as I was supposed to be."

[thatwaslucky]

"It probably makes your job now a little easier too," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Definitely," Anakin said. "It's probably also why despite millennia of trying the Sith never wiped out the Jedi."

Rey frowned. "Should I worry that I don't know of any Sith right now?"

[sith_happened]

"Probably," was Anakin's helpful contribution.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey sighed. "The balance thing has downsides."

[sith_happened]

"It really does," Anakin agreed. "Sorry."

[thatwaslucky]

Rey frowned, and asked, "How would u even go about finding Sith?"

[sith_happened]

"In my experience, wait for things to start going wrong in a subtle way, then find the being at the center of it. Or wait for the cackling and Force lightning."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'd rather be proactive on that last part," she said. "It feels like the tricky part of it would be not upsetting the balance yourself while looking for subtle signs."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "In order for there to be balance, someone out there is a dark Jedi. They don't have to be Sith, necessarily, but never count them out."

"I think that's what Kylo Ren would be classified as," she said. "He wasn't Sith. I don't know what Snoke was, technically."

[sith_happened]

"Me either," Anakin said. "But they are both helpful reminders that it's not always Jedi against Sith."

[thatwaslucky]

"That's one of the things they don't tell you about," she said with a frown.

[sith_happened]

"There's a lot of things they don't tell you about," Anakin said wryly.
