Annie's phone was blowing up when she came in tonight, because guess what, kids -- it wasn't just a pre-election summer in this world, and Annie had friends back home who had a vested interest in who made it to the White House in their own.
And, of course, they wanted her help with all of that.
(For the record, MM also did not believe her when she had told him the recent Presidential track record in this universe, because some things were just too silly even for him to believe.)
In any case, once Kimiko started in with the animated Starlight gifs to go along with MM's patient requests, a decision was reached, and her phone was turned off. Look -- if Diego needed her, it was a very small island, and he could just bring the kids in, okay? Better that than spend the rest of her shift wrestling with a decision she'd made two years ago and stuck to.
That being said.

Though, notably, they were not yet as dire as things back at Gladio's home, and that was worth being grateful for too, right?

"Thought you seemed a little distracted," he noted, especially with that glance toward her phone. "What kind of exceptionally stupid are we talking about here?"
There were so many possibilities!

And that wasn't even touching the Homelander of it all, or her own still-loyal supporters.
"I'm staying out of it," she sighed, waving a hand dismissively at her phone as though flicking it -- and her thoughts about Victoria Neuman -- away. "Get you a drink?"

Not without weapons or Starscourge, anyway.
"And that sounds....smart," he decided, after a moment to think about just the right word. "Especially with what you've got going on now."
Little babies to worry about and all. If anyone had a good excuse to not get tangled up in literal mind-blowing politics...
"And yeah, hook me up. You know I think to lean toward the blended drinks, especially this time of year, but that last one's calling my name in particular out of, you know," he nodded her way, "solidarity."

Because yeah, solidarity was appreciated. And honestly, that was giving her an idea of just answering all those Starlight gifs with baby pictures. She had commitments here, now.
