Sushi Station, Sunday Night

Friday had been Graham's birthday! Which meant that they needed to celebrate with sushi from the Sushi Station. Sushi for Graham's birthday had been a standing tradition for almost twenty years now, whether they were in the same place or not. Though since they all were this year, the only possible thing to do was call Sushi Station, put in a reservation that would fit all of them, and then send out a message on the old group chat:

Don't ig-nori this message, because it's tamago out for Graham's birthday! So let's roll on down to the Sushi Station to show him how matcha you care! No gifts necessary, just bring your raw enthusiasm and join us for dinner fit for roe-lty and we'll shoyu a good time.

Also, Graham, this message is your birthday present for the NEXT twenty years.

Hopefully that would be enough to bring people out, because Arden had not pummeled her brain for a good half hour coming up with stupid sushi puns for people to skip out on this, dammit!

That party on Friday had (somehow) managed to lead to a coffee 'date' to compare what had turned out to be surprisingly disappointing notes on the attendance of said party, and Eleanor had been feeling the need to sort of figure out what sort of thoughts and feeling she had about that. So even though she knew there were probably more reunion events going on throughout the weekend, she'd had her fill on Friday and planned to just make a hermit of herself in the quiet of her room and sort of try to get focused on the new classes coming up.

So when a text came into the group chat about Graham's birthday, she was a little torn. Because she was trying to take all those opportunities, but also wanted felt she wanted more time before being social again. But also she did know Graham, not as well as some, but he'd always been kind to her, so it felt wrong to pass up on his birthday, especially since she knew he'd left to become a knight or something like that.

So there was all that convincing and pepping herself up, only to then walk into the Sushi Station and suddenly felt...very confused.

"Eleanor!" Arden said, surprised and gratified. "Oh my god, girl! You look the same as you did when we graduated."

"...Arden?" Eleanor asked, after a moment, her confusion certainly not going anywhere, but at least perhaps bolstered by that feeling that....well, that Fandom was clearly doing a thing, and apparently left her out of it. She'd been going here long enough to think that this had to have been the most logical explanation.

Now the next question was just how exactly she was going to handle it.

"Uh....thank you?" Her smile was a little twitchy, but then she sort of tried laughing it off lightly. "I guess, I mean, it's probably a big time travel things, you know? That's definitely it."

Charlie was here, of course! She wasn't about to miss a chance to find more time with Graham and she was happy to spend a little more time with old friends.

Gray would never turn down sushi or more time spent hanging out with his friends and favorite former roommate, and if he arrived late and looking somewhat rumpled from an impromptu nap on the way, well, he was still Gray.

"Gray!" Arden said, offering him a hug. Who cares about late, the important thing is that he'd arrived. "How's things? How's your husband?"

Yay hugs! "Arden!" Gray exclaimed into the hug. "They're great! We just moved to Greece, did I tell you? Mason's still a little, uh, unsure about the island," what with it being majority Nephilim and all, "but he's settling in better than I expected. How about you? How's space? How's the husband?"

Kamala had been called into a teleconference meeting regarding incidents occurring in New Sokovia. Which is when Arden's text came through.

Really Arden? Sushi?

Not able to get out of the meeting she sent a text directly to Arden.

Sushi? WTF? You can't have sushi!

Cal was cool as a cucumber and definitely not internally freaking out that Arden had decided on going for sushi. He was just experiencing the secondhand embarrassment of that text, obviously.

It was a tradition, Cal! Arden couldn't wreck twenty years of tradition, just because she couldn't eat it!

"But what if I really want a tiiiiiny sushi roll?" Arden asked, giving him big eyes. "Just a little, tiny, itsy-bitsy one?"

She was actually less interested in having real sushi than seeing how quickly she could make Cal 'The Empire Couldn't Break Me' Kestis crack.

Considering that Graham was still chuckling merrily over all of those puns even as he was settling in to really en-soy his traditional birthday sushi? That was definitely a good sign that Arden might not actually owe him a present for the entire rest of their lives at this point!

Granted, she'd never owed him a present to begin with, but that wasn't the point. The point was that it was still hard to get good sushi in Daventry (although there was now a pretty good place over in Llewdor now!), and so he was really looking forward to this.

And definitely making arrangements to have a to-go order picked up early tomorrow morning before he left so that Vee didn't miss out on it, either!
