Caritas; Wednesday [07/10].

Tino was telling Summer all about his weekend, which sounded enough like any other weekend that Tino would tell her about that she started to become increasingly uncertain as to whether or not, from what he was telling her, he had actually been affected by the weekend at all. She tried to ask some revealing questions to help her pin it down a little more, but to no avail. Each answer seemed as frustratingly vague and uncertain as the last.

So finally, she just straight up and asked how old he was now and how old he was during the weekend, to which he just gasped and got all offended that she would even ask him something like that, and then he gave her the cold shoulder for the rest of the shift.

Which, really, was Summer preferred state of being behind the bar, so it all kind of worked out, really.

Hmmmm. That was a tough one.

Summer regarded Kamala's greeting with a lifted brow but clear amusement on her face before she gave a confirming nod. "We do, in fact, serve drinks that don't have alcohol in them," she assured her. "And not even just water! We got sodas, I can mix a pretty mean mocktail, and I've even got virgin versions of all my jello shots, too."

She considered Kamala for another moment before also adding, "And FYI, this particular bar has a thing where I actually can serve alcohol to customers under 21, so if you still wanted to get your booze on, that is also an option."

Kamala blinked at that last statement. She didn’t know that. But even if that wasn’t a reason there was the good Muslim kid in her that still felt guilty about taking a sip of someone’s drink at a school party that had vodka in it.

“Oh! Well. Uh. That’s okay, I’m not a drinker,” Kamala admitted. “So I’d love a mocktail. And a virgin version of the black sesame jello sounds good!”

Since Kamala hadn't specified on what kind of mocktail and since Summer sort of figured she might be a little out of her element, she was just going to go ahead and make an assumption and start mixing up just a good old classic virgin cosmo for her after plucking one of the sesame jello shots from the non-alcohol tray and setting it down in front of her.

"You got it," she said, and, as she worked on the drink, asked, "So, decided to come in and check things out tonight?"

"Yep! I'm hoping to do some karaoke with some friends tonight," Kamala said watching Summer mix her drink with fascination. Then she looked down at her jello shot not really knowing what to do next. "Does this come with a spoon?"

"Nope!" Summer answered cheerfully. "It's a shot, so the point is to down it in one go. These ones are nice and molded so you can just pop 'em in like candy or whatever. The ones in cups, you've kind of got to finangle a little, either by squeezing the cup or dislodging it with your tongue."

"Ooooh," Kamala said nodding like she knew that all along and popped it in her mouth. "Oh! That's like one of my mom's halva recipes! Can I have another?"

"Sure," said Summer, happily obliging. "And, you know, they're both pretty much free if you're doing karaoke. One because the first one's always free." That's how they get'cha! "And the other if you are getting up to do karaoke. Sometimes the free shot's a good incentive to get people up there."

"Oh! Cool! I was going to do that anyway," Kamala admitted. "But if I get a free one too, I'm totally okay with that. I'm hoping to get a few of my friends up there tonight so I hope you're prepared for some humiliating vocals."

Kamala did not consider herself a singer. So she tried to make it up with energy and dance moves.

"I'm always prepared for humiliating vocals," Summer assured her, with a pleased smile that was honestly getting a little excited for this now, because this was adorable, she missed getting more students in here from time to time and a bunch of these kids getting up on the stage to sing their little hearts out was seriously something that needed to happen more often, "but some nights the stage is pretty dead...and not just because of the zombies, so this is great. Good for you guys. Any special occasion?"

"Oh, one of my friends had a bad reaction to what happened last weekend," Kamala explained. "So I figured a girl's night out would give her a boost. Or at least laugh when she sees me sing. I can't believe people don't take advantage of the stage though. Maybe not everyone does karaoke in other universes?"

The people from Aladna would love this place. Well... maybe not the zombies.

"There's also a lot of people who seem to be allergic to fun around here," Summer pointed out. "Or at least the kind of fun where they have to let go of their egos and just not care about what people think for a while. So I'm glad you guys are bringing it back, even if just for the night. But, yeah....weekends like last one are a fucking doozy, a Girls Night Out sounds like just the right remedy for it, too. You hold out okay during it, though?"

"Oh, my weekend was definitely different but in a more inspiring way, I guess? There were some things I didn't care for but for the most part I like what I saw," Kamala admitted. "How about you? Did you like where you life went or is it taking you in a different direction?"

"I am definitely driving myself into a distant sun the second I meet any dashing, handsome horror novel writer named Luke Anderson," Summer declared, which, you know, should give you a pretty good idea of what she thought of how things ended up.

The boob job, though, she could see herself being way more okay with.

"But that's the thing with alternate dimensions," she said, now shrugging it off. "There's so many of them, and they're so completely arbitrary that there's no point in really focusing on in. The chances that everything falls perfectly into place from this point right now to lead you exactly that point just then? Is, like, statistically impossible or whatever."

"Oh. I hadn't thought of that," Kamala said, now looking a little pensive. Maybe worried.

Then she quickly shrugged it off.

"Well, if you know who he is it should be easy to avoid him."
