Tino was telling Summer all about his weekend, which sounded enough like any other weekend that Tino would tell her about that she started to become increasingly uncertain as to whether or not, from what he was telling her, he had actually been affected by the weekend at all. She tried to ask some revealing questions to help her pin it down a little more, but to no avail. Each answer seemed as frustratingly vague and uncertain as the last.

So finally, she just straight up and asked how old he was now and how old he was during the weekend, to which he just gasped and got all offended that she would even ask him something like that, and then he gave her the cold shoulder for the rest of the shift.

Which, really, was Summer preferred state of being behind the bar, so it all kind of worked out, really.

Harley had been idly squinting at some of her fellow club patrons for a while, before eventually catching Arden at an opportune moment to tilt her head and ask, "Why are there so many of you kids here?"

Congrats, Arden, you were now considered the spokesperson for 'the Kids'. Like a ringleader of sorts.

And this was why she got Dr. Quinn's like an authority figure. This right here.

"Oh! Because we're having a girls' night karaoke," Arden said. "Because it's been a wholeass time and sometimes you just gotta sing a bunch of angry songs about it, you know?"

"Ah," Harley said, like that explained... well, pretty much everything, actually. Her face shifted from the confused squinting of earlier into a much more sage sort of look. "In that case," she said, "you might wanna consider not stickin' together so much and drawing attention to yourselves, 'cause some snitch is gonna get you thrown out. And trust me, sweetie, it's a bummer ending to a good night, girl power or not!"

No one had told her yet this bar didn't card.

"...Why would we get thrown out?" Arden looked around, suddenly worried. "Are we being too loud? Are we bothering the other patrons?"

"Because... you're too young?" Harley replied, slowly, eyeing Arden.

Though come to think of it, Arden had come off like a major goody two shoes before, and the rest of her posse weren't really giving major 'sneaking into bars to get wasted' party girl vibes either...

The confusion was back. So was the exaggerated head tilt.

"Right?"

Look, she only came off that way because that's exactly what she was. Hence the immediate fretting that they were accidentally bothering the other patrons.

"For normal bars, yeah," Arden said. "But Caritas doesn't card. So long as you're not being an asshole, I don't think they care."

"Oh," Harley said, eyebrows quirking with surprise. Then she made a sweping gesture with one hand, almost as if brushing a bunch of things off an imaginary table. "Well, fuck everything I just said then, you're good!"

"But thank you for offering me pointers anyway!" Arden said quickly, in case Harley thought that Arden was ungrateful for the suggestions. "It was really nice of you to have our backs like that."

Don't make it weird, Arden!

Harley just shrugged, the same hand now giving a dismissive wave: "Eh, just sharin' what I know." And she lowered her voice, all conspiratorial. "Mostly to get back at the fucking snitches."

Categorically incapable of not making it weird, Harley.

"Are there any here in the bar...?" Arden glanced around. "Or is this like more of a preemptive snitch-spicion?"

Look, Arden was a good two shoes, but she was not a snitch.

And now Harley was giving a very serious, assessing look all around the bar.

"Well, no known ones," she said. "A couple people look like they wouldn't dare, Frenchie might be annoying but I don't think he'd snitch without at least offering you a deal first..." She quirked her eyebrows, considering something. "Summer might if she wasn't the fucking barkeep and rattin' people out would be bad for business."

Ratting people out for what, Harley?

"The other redhead could be a narc, though."

"Oh, shit, wait. That's the mayor." So, yeah, snitch potential was much higher.

Though who was she going to snitch to? The Maryland Liquor License Association or whatever? Did any place on this island have a license?

"... That's the mayor?!"

Guess who this was news to!

"The hot ponytail redhead that's not tendin' bar is the mayor of this town?"

"Pretty sure, yup," Arden said. "Jesse...LastName?"

"That's a weird --" Harley started to say, before things actually caught up with her. "Oh you mean you don't know her last name, got it."

"Yeah," Arden said. "Hmm. Maybe we should keep a lower profile, just in case."
